M.D.
Hi M C, my sister in law has the same problem, she went to the dr. and she was perscribed a cream called " Caramol 45 " it works wonders. My husband and I have both used it.. I'd recomend her to talk to her doc about it.. Good luck
A friend of mine came over this evening and while we were chilling, she asked me what to do about the skin on her feet. The skin is cracked and she is peeling it off terribly. It's so bad that it bleeds in certain areas and she says she has it all year, not just summer months. I told her to use Gold Bond Foot Cream and wear white socks for awhile until it goes away, but I really don't know. Can anyone offer any better advice? Is this something that she should see a dermatologist or podiatrist for? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

I get it all the time too. I've had it since I was little. I have very dry skin. She can see a podiatrist but I would have he try over the counter first. I use Kerasal and Eucerin lotion and it works well for me. Also I wear white cotton socks at night.
Please tell your friend to get checked for Diabetes. What you described is a classic symptom.

This sounds crazy but have her try Vicks VaporRub and a pair of socks. My mom did this every night and swears by it!
bag balm at night with socks
I have dry heels, too. She should STOP picking it 1st of all. It makes it into scar tissue and it won't ever be the same. I have tried vaseline under socks at night and its pretty effective, and cheaper than the creams, but I've used them, too. The socks at night help to hold it on and won't get on the sheets. The trick is to do it all the time. As soon as I stop it comes back. Once she gets it to where it won't hurt (ie: stop picking it to the raw skin line) she can get one of those sand paper stone things made for feet. (Pumice?) and, before the pm treatment, sand it down s smooth as possible. It takes diligence!
aveeda has a great foot lotion with menthol
bag balm is another tried and true method...
If it is really that bad, then she should see a dermatologist. If it is bleeding, then maybe she will need a prescription- something more than over-the-counter could offer her.
Good Luck. That sounds terrible! :(
