Hello ladies,
I am searching for pre-school for my son. We are looking for full day w/ extended care until 6pm. Does anybody have any recommendations? We would like something thru CPS but we are not finding a whole lot. We live in Logan Square. Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

Disney II is awesome...but it is really hard to get in. Call the preschool for all office and they will give you all the info on schools that you need.

Hi R.,you will not find extended care in the cps, the only thing you can try is check a couple of park districts in your area and they have after care til 5 0r 6pm,,but it's not cheap,,,the school that your child goes to should be able to supply the transportation to the park because I had to do that one year and my kids were very unhappy with the bus ride experience if you know what I mean - but,I know that registration is next sat. for the Parks Districts, and you can register on line.. Good Luck, L. S.

Children's Campus 773 631 3632

It is at 7250 Touhy (Harlem & Touhy)
You can drop off as ealry as 6am and pick up by 6pm and their prices are the most reasonable i have seen for this type of care. They asl teach the kids (curriculum between 9am - 11:30am) and potty train.

Please tell them that I referred you. I get one week free tuition for any referals. Although this is a nice bonus for me, this is not reason for my referral. Just love this school

I think all of the CPS TBP's (tuition based pre-schools)are in operation until 6:00 p.m. Check the CPS website. Here's a link that may help http://www.ecechicago.org/programs/ece/tbp.html
Greeley School is opening a TBP next fall.

You might have better luck looking for a daycare that offers a 'preschool-style' curriculum. Go to www.naeyc.org to, at the very least, start a search.

R., my kids go to a catholic school and I know they have preschool and they have an extended care program untl 6.00pm but the tution is very expensive. It is more for preschool then the 1st thru 8th grade. I don't know of any program with the CPS that has the extented progam.

Hi R.-

I can recommend Casa Infantil. They are at 2222 N. Kedzie. Both of my daughters attended there and I loved it! They can watch the kids til 6:00 p.m. They offer a great program!

HI R.,
I live in Avondale, just over the northern border of Logan Square. I don't know of a CPS for you, but my younger son went to Concordia, which is a daycare that has preschool for kids up to Kindergarten age. They have more than one campus and we attended the one on Whipple, near Belmont as it was within walking distance. They have a sliding fee scale which made it affordable for us, being self-employed and it was a beautiful, new facility, great staff and we were very happy with the experience. You must pick up BY 6pm, however and that may not work for you? We have friends with a first grader at Audubon school and I think they have a tuition-based pre-school. It's at 3500 N Hoyne so it's not in Logan Square...
I'm sure you'll get some ideas from the mamas here! Good luck!

Hi, R.!
I would bet CPS would not have anything for preschool with extended care. Have you tried Lake Shore School? They have a facility in Andersonville where I live (Bryn Mawr and Clark), but a friend worked there and said they also had a site farther south which might be better for you. When my sons were young, and they are now 22 and 25, one was able to take private school tuition off as a tax credit as it could be viewed as child care, but this stopped, at least back then, after kindergarten or first grade. I was on our school board at the Catholic school my sons attended, and we always lost a lot of enrollments after that time. Old St. Pat's has a school, but I'm not sure about extended care. That would be downtown in the west Loop. Good luck.
