Could You Live with Only Your Mobile Phone and No Desktop/laptop Computer?

Absolutely not. Even taking work out of the equation, there is too much that I do in my personal life that requires access to real spreadsheets and word processing tools and I like to use a real computer's browser for typing, filling out forms, storing and printing documents, etc. My brother and younger sister don't have computers and they are always sending me stuff to print or coming over to do things that they can't do on their phones.

No. I use my ipad a lot, but I still use my computer daily.

I'm not even that big a fan of my smart phone. Recently got it (to stay connected to my teens) but so far I hate all the little dings going off.

No. I can't conduct my life on a small screen and only using 2 thumbs to type!

Survive? Yes. Maintain all my records and communications at the same level of efficiency and functionality? NO. Not even close.

Nope, I don;t have a smart phone. The idea of being "connected" all the time....bleh. While it would be nice sometimes to have access, I don;t need it 24/7.

Well of course I could LIVE but I would hate to do all my typing, spreadsheets/bill paying, photo/graphics management, video watching, shopping, web reading, etc. on such a small screen, and with such a small keyboard.
I love my iphone but it in no way replaces my laptop.

I manage FB pages for several businesses so if I want to earn my keep I have to be online to answer questions and post ads and organizes posts for the bosses.

I enjoy playing a few games on FB too and yes, I do spend too much time online...lol.

No, I couldn't. I manage properties from home, and like to engage in political discussions online. Both require me to type from a real computer, or I'd go mad and look illiterate.

It isn't fun trying to type up long communication on my cell phone, and I'm not going to use a mobile keyboard either. I need a mouse, I need a keyboard, and I need a larger display for my poor eyes.

No - I hate typing on my phone. I can voice message but I couldn't write reports for work without my laptop.

I couldn't - I have my office in my home and have to use a computer daily. If I didn't have this job, I could get by with my phone and my tablet, but I would probably actually ditch the smart phone and just use my tablet (I only have a smart phone for work).

My 2nd oldest daughter only has a phone (not smart phone) and a kindle fire and gets by just fine.

I remember the days when cell phone where for making "emergency calls" only (as well as the days when there were no cell phones). I miss those days :)

I run my company from home and I can do enough on my phone that I don't need to carry my laptop when I travel.

However, my laptop is super important because I run Quickbooks which is my payroll, taxes, AR/AP, invoicing and reports as well as excel reports I run daily.

If I were not managing my company ... Sure I could live without my laptop. I have IPhone 6 and love it.

i have a motorola razor flip phone, no internet on it so i would be lost if i only had a phone and no desktop. ALL the internet i get to see is on the desktop and occasionally a laptop

I don't own a mobile phone, but I love my laptop. I survived 30 years without a computer or a mobile phone, so I am pretty sure I could do it. I doubt a mobile phone could be a reasonable replacement for my computer though.

Nope, I also do spread sheets, Graphics, layouts. I am going to guess at some point you could, but not at this point.

I could easily live without a phone, but not without a computer. I know this for certain because while cell phones are undeniably convenient, it has never been a life need for me so I've never had one.

I have a Kindle Fire that I use for reading, simple games, and checking email. I can't do any real work on it though, so it's more like a toy. Mobile devices can be handy for quick checkups and brief communication, but they lack the required functionality to get anything serious done. I actually have two computers, a desktop and a laptop. I use them for different things, often at the same time.

It's not all work and spreadsheets, I also occasionally play computer games that mobile devices do not have the ability to handle.

Our kids don't have cell phones either, but they do need computers for school. While core classes offer non-tech alternatives to assignments & projects for kids who don't have access at home, computer-related electives require it. Computers are so much a part of education now that our district provides laptops to kids starting in grade 9 that can be used at school and at home. They are trying to expand the program to start in lower grades. The school also uses tablets in some classes, but those stay in the classroom.

My husband has a smartphone required by work for communication, and an iPad that they use for a proprietary informational app, but his main work functions can't be done without full-fledged computers.

I just use my cell for everything. I haven't owned a laptop in four years!

I didn't have either of them ten years ago, so yes.

No- only because some sites and applications are still not up to par with mobile devices. Take this site for instance.

I could survive but it would be difficult. I have a brother that lives in Australia so international phone on my mobile would be more and skyping on a small screen would be disappointing. So given the choice I'd rather have my laptop so I can see what my beautiful nephew is paying with when we chat.

I did just that when my desktop crapped out on me a few years ago.

No, all my pictures and videos are downloaded to the desktop. When I'm doing real "work" with lots of typing I get frustrated with the little keyboard on the phone. So much easier to do it on the "big" computer.

Also, our desktop is quicker than my phone and tablet.

I've been using only my smartphone for a,couple of years now. I type with one finger and successfully use mamapedia. My desktop crapped out, my granddaughter broke my laptop before I learned how to use it. I do have Nook and Samsung tablets and the only users are my grandchildren. I'm retired so don't need more than a smart phone.

That's exactly what my best friend has been doing for a few years now, and she doesn't miss her computer. I've been wondering if I should follow her lead when my computer dies.

It's like this - do you program, make music, or do animation/illustrations/photo enhancement? Do you do your bookkeeping on your computer, or lots of word processing/document production/spreadsheets? If yes, then you need your computer.

If you use your computer primarily as an internet terminal, game platform, or video platform, then you don't. Your smartphone can do all that.

I could, my husband and kids could not.

In my home we don't have cable or a dish, we have internet streaming: Netflix, Hulu and the like.

On any typical day the TV, IPad and computer will all be running in some capacity.

We are always careful about what our kids do on the devices but since it's summer we've been more lax about the amount of screen time they have.
