Could I Be Pregnant? - Stony Point, NY

My husband and I have just started to try to have our second child. Yesterday and today I have had a weird feeling in my stomach area, along with cramping (but yet I don't experience cramps when I have my period--which isn't due for 2 more weeks). Could I be feeling the beginnings of pregancy or just could it be "wishful thinking"? I am also wondering if some other weird happenings could be signaling something.....

Hi S.,

The only way to tell is to take a pregnancy test. I think whatever feeling you're experiencing are "wishful thinking".

Dear S.,

Early mild cramping is a very common sign in the first few weeks of pregnancy. Many women are never more certain that they're about to get their periods. Some women also report a "sizzle" or a "ping" feeling at the moment of conception.

So sure, it's quite possible, though none of these signs are reliable. My recommendation is to eat (take vitamins, not drink, etc.) as though you're pregnant, but also relax. You'll find out soon enough.

You could be feeling the egg implant in your uterus. Don't worry about it, keep doing what you're doing and see what happens.

S., if your period is not due for two weeks, it is extremely unlikely that you are pregnant. Two weeks before your period, you are probably ovulating. Some women have pain/twinges at ovulation - but it would be on one side or the other. If this is a new sensation that you have never experienced before, I would say that it is unrelated to your reproductive cycle.
