First, I want to say good luck with your treatment plan. We did IVF twice and FET twice but this was between 6-10 years ago.
Since we had to pay the majority out of our own pockets we had to spread out the tries so we could pay for it all. At the time, the IVF cycles ran approximately $12,000 - $15,000 each time and the FETs were much less expensive. I want to say those were maybe $4,000 - $6,000 each.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned too is if when you do an IVF cycle (depending on your specific fertility issue) you may have to do what is called ICSI. This adds another cost too. Plus if you do any genetic testing etc. this adds as well. And, of course, as others have said, the cost of the meds are almost as much as the procedures themselves.
I don't want to be a downer, but I will also tell you that it can be a long and very difficult road. The emotional part far outweights the pain and difficulty of the physical process. And for me, I think it made me feel so many things I would never have had an opportunity to feel otherwise....both good and bad. Find a good support group, either online or in person, of people who've gone through this or are going through it with you. You might check out the website INCIID.org. I found a lot of support there. Many of the friends I have today I met through that board who lived in my area too.
Today, we have an adopted 5 year old and one baby now on the way. The second was a miraculous surprise after having failed fertility treatments and unprotected "fun" for a total of 13 years.
So, I wanted to give you a few words of support and say that I hope this journey is a good one for you. No matter what the outcome, there is a reason for that outcome. Oh, and by the way, you will probably get SICK of hearing that if you haven't heard it too much already. But it is the most true statement one can say to you. Hold it in your heart and know that the outcome will be a good one....no matter what.
