Can anybody telll me how much they spent for fertilty treatment. I am seeing Dr. Goldstein and we just met with the financial person today about IVF. She is telling me that the total cost of IVF is 6000.00 not including the meds. Is that high. I have heard everything from 6 to 10,000 dollars but wanted to see if anybody could tell me what there cost was.

Thanks,

What can I do next?

I did 2 fresh cycles in 2001 and they ranged from $12,000-15,000 each. I did a FET in 2006 and it cost $6,000. Good luck!

PS-my first IVF failed. My 2nd one was a success and I had my daughter in 2002. My FET was a super success...2 frozen embryos and one split! Triplets in 2007! I did acupunture with the FET as well and those were paid for by insurance (that was the only thing!)

That is less expensive than it used to be. 12 years ago we paid about $15,000 including meds and then 9 years ago we paid about $12,000 including meds.

Shop pharmacies for your meds, they can vary greatly. It is awesome that the price has come down so much and made it more affordable! Our kiddos are now 11 and 8 and we just paid them off! :)

I want to say meds were about $2500 - $3000 just depending on what was prescribed and who had it for the least expensive.

It cost approximately $25K total for procedure and meds in 2004 when we did IVF with Dr. Douglas. It was well worth it as we have a handsome 5 year old boy.

First, I want to say good luck with your treatment plan. We did IVF twice and FET twice but this was between 6-10 years ago.

Since we had to pay the majority out of our own pockets we had to spread out the tries so we could pay for it all. At the time, the IVF cycles ran approximately $12,000 - $15,000 each time and the FETs were much less expensive. I want to say those were maybe $4,000 - $6,000 each.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned too is if when you do an IVF cycle (depending on your specific fertility issue) you may have to do what is called ICSI. This adds another cost too. Plus if you do any genetic testing etc. this adds as well. And, of course, as others have said, the cost of the meds are almost as much as the procedures themselves.

I don't want to be a downer, but I will also tell you that it can be a long and very difficult road. The emotional part far outweights the pain and difficulty of the physical process. And for me, I think it made me feel so many things I would never have had an opportunity to feel otherwise....both good and bad. Find a good support group, either online or in person, of people who've gone through this or are going through it with you. You might check out the website INCIID.org. I found a lot of support there. Many of the friends I have today I met through that board who lived in my area too.

Today, we have an adopted 5 year old and one baby now on the way. The second was a miraculous surprise after having failed fertility treatments and unprotected "fun" for a total of 13 years.

So, I wanted to give you a few words of support and say that I hope this journey is a good one for you. No matter what the outcome, there is a reason for that outcome. Oh, and by the way, you will probably get SICK of hearing that if you haven't heard it too much already. But it is the most true statement one can say to you. Hold it in your heart and know that the outcome will be a good one....no matter what.

IVF can range from anywhere from $5k to $25k depending on the doctor and treatment. Most of the doctors in the DFW area are in the $6k-$10k range plus medication. The only doctor I know of that is less is Dr. Sy Le in Irving.

We did this in 2008. The total cost of our IVF, all-inclusive, was around $11,700. It could have been more if we had viable embryos to cryo-freeze. Our doctor ball-parked the IVF at $10,000, so it does vary once things get going. It took a year for us to save the money but our baby was well worth it!
