Cooking Meat and Rice in Crock Pot (Another Crock Pot Question)!!

I'm wondering if any of you ladies cook both meat and rice at the same time in a crock pot? I sometimes make rice and chicken in a shallow pan with Campbell's cream of chicken soup and do it all in one pan. I'm wondering if that will work in the crock pot? I never seem to be able to find a chicken and rice crock pot recipe that tells me to put it all in and let it be. I don't want to brown anything or do too much. I want to get home after a long day and have my meal all ready and waiting.

Any suggestions would be awesome!

Thanks!

I've never cooked rice in the crock pot. I have a rice cooker. I put the rice and water in, turn it on, it dings and turns itself off when it's done, and I don't have to monitor it.

You can do this. I usually add a half to full cup of extra water or it comes out really dry.

Adding some celery and onion gives it a little more flavor.

I think the procedure is you add the ingredients according to when they finish.
So meat and hard vegetables (carrots, etc) would be first - cook for how ever many hours, then add soft vegetables, cook for a few hours, etc.
I'd add rice about an hour before serving.
It will definitely absorb liquids but it might get mushy if it cooks too long.
Crock pots are great for soups, stews and chili.
Some people do pot roasts - I never got the hang of it - mine turn out tough no matter what I do.
Potatoes are often the starch added in because they can cook a long time and not dissolve.
It's easy enough to cook up a stew in the crock pot and just make the rice separate when you get home to pour the stew over.

I've never found any recipes with rice in the crock pot. I usually just make it on the stove if it goes with whatever i made in the crockpot.

But , I've made rice in the oven recently. Which is a similar "hands off" approach. It takes about 30 minutes - an hour.

So who's going to be the first to try? I can't this weekend, but maybe next weekend!

I honestly think rice in a crock pot wouldn't work...too easy to overcook it. I'd put everything else in, and then come home and just do up some rice quick. ;)

Wow, is there a way to cook rice in a crock pot? I mean, wash it and just put it in (with water, of course) and let the pot do all the work?! I'd love to know because that would be awesome.
