Convertible Carseat Recommendations - Harned,KY

I'm starting to research / shop around for convertible carseats. I don't need to make a decision right away, but I want to use the next month or so to gather as much information as possible. Cost isn't a huge factor. However, I do have to buy 4 new carseats, so I won't be buying anything super expensive. What brands/models do you recommend?

What can I do next?

Consumer Reports Best Buys are Graco MyRide 65 and Envenflo Momentum 65 Deluxe.

I have an Evenflo (at the time it was a best buy, but not any more). I love it. The straps are sooooo easy to adjust. It's a bit bulky - it fits fine in my Equinox SUV, but it's more of a tight fit in my husband's crew cab truck. I think mine is the Evenflo Triumph or Triumph Advance.

We bought our 2 Britax Marathons off the web on different sales. I feel that they are good quality and will last DD til she is 65 lbs (now they go higher) and may even expire even before she gets there (she's tiny). We will get a lot of use out of them. We are very happy with them. I drive a Saturn SL1, so not a huge car. It's fine. We've also put one in tiny little European cars, too.

Britax marathon! Hands down my favorite after research, and it proved its worth when we were in a fatality accident and our daughter was not hurt! I've always bought carseats at www.albeebaby.com. I've also seen good deals on new in box ones on eBay.

We have the Evenflo Triumph in both cars (SUV and a sedan) and LOVE it! It's easy and has most of the features of the Britax, but at significantly less cost. It's easy to install, remove, adjust and wash.

We'll be buying another set for this baby too!

Make sure that it will acommedate rear-facing and forward facing.
Go with one that will let you have your child on harness from from 5-20 lbs minimum up to 65 lbs. Otherwise you'll have double expense later.

Ex. We bought a Britax Marathon (65lbs) going on 4 1/2y. It was a bit pricey, but she is now 5y, 38 lbs and plenty of room. Cost me $300. Hubby's car won't fit a Britax, so we had to buy 1 carseat for $90, and now we just bought a booster for $50. She is not comfortable in it, but that's what fits for his car and she doesn't ride long periods.

My inlaws bought a carseat (40 lbs limit) for $60. Their almost 4y has reached the height and weight limit. So now they have to buy booster ($100 - 200)

If its not too late, ask for one or money for one for Christmas.

I love my evenflo triumph! I went and bought it at babies r us with a 20% off coupon I get every other week in the mail. My daughter loves it. She doesn't care for my husbands in his truck it is a cheap one that costed like $45. But her evenflo she will stay put and just be content as can be. She has had to be in it for 5+ hours a few times and wasn't bothered by it at all. I have a two door Hyundai Accent and it works behind my seat. I am 5'3'' and I am comfortable driving. My husband can sit in the passenger seat that way and keep her company or lay back and relax. Yes, he can't drive my car but I prefer it that way truthfully. She is backwards still and will be until I feel she is safe enough to turn. She is a little short for her age. Hope this helped. Oh another thing, when I was reading reviews on amazon people kept mentioning that the straps kept twisting and I have experienced that once.

You don't need the Britax Marathon. The Roundabout is rated just as highly, it just has less bells and whistles and is not as tall (so it will last until around age 2-3, depending on how big your kids are). But, because it is not as tall, it fits MUCH better in the rear-facing position. And we are supposed to keep our kids rear-facing until age 2! The Roundabout is only $150. I love ours. Just be sure to let it air out for several days before installing it. Most car seats are treated with a flame retardant, and the fumes are bad for baby.
