To put it realllly simply... is your belly getting hard when you have these cramps? If your belly gets hard, and it happens regularly and stays regular, or increases... then call your OB office. It never hurts to call. THATS WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR!

Good luck!

What you are describing sounds like contractions, if they come and go with free of pain in between that is contractions, you should not let them get as close as 7 mins apart before going to hospital...get ready while you are able to, I hope you are able to carry to full term...Congradulations on your new edition to your world ;)

If you are a 34 weeks, most likely you have an irritable uterus...Have a large glass of water and lay on your left side, this helps increase blood flow to the uterus, and takes the pressure off of the heart.

When you are in labor, sometimes it feels like cramps, but have periodic tightening of your uterus...

You may be experiencing "practice" contractions, also called "braxton-hicks contractions". these are sort of like abdominal training exercises for all those muscels that will be running a marathon while lifting weights in just a few short weeks. they will often be lengthy, lasting a couple minutes, or can feel like your whole belly gets stiff.
if they are very sharp or rythmic and frequent, you might want to check with your doctor or midwife just for reassurance. that is what they are there for.
good luck and congratulations!

I remember they were sharp, short pains that came a few minutes apart. It indicated it was time to get to the hospital. But they didn't show up until around 39- 40 weeks. I would definitely see your OB/GYN because I think 34 weeks is a bit early to be having contractions. You just want to be sure nothing is happening too early.

And congratulations.

Hey J.,

In all likelihood, they're simple Braxton-Hicks contractions and will go away if you increase your water intake or change positions. If, after you do both, they don't decrease or maybe even increase, call your doctor. He/she may want you seen ASAP, depending upon your medical history.

I had pre-term contractions from about 20 weeks on with my youngest. It wasn't fun, but it also wasn't Braxton-Hicks. There is a difference, so don't discount them if something feels "off".

It sounds like a contraction. I gave birth to my son at 38 weeks and had weird twinge-like pains that were contractions a day or two before he was born. It could also be the baby hitting something inside of you, maybe?
