P.K.
That is a tough one. How long has she been home from camp? Stool
softeners maybe.
My daughter just came back from sleep away camp. I guess a combination from not eating high fiber foods and having to hold it in for too long she got constipated. Problem is, she is going away tomorrow for an another camp and I am afraid on giving her something that will make tomorrow have to go a lot to the bathroom. Her camp is river & trail camp so having to go to the bathroom often will not be fun.
Is anything I can give her to help her go to the bathroom today that would not cause much trouble tomorrow?
I gave her the Miralax, but she didn't poo, I was a little concern of giving her much that I may haven't giving her enough : (
I hope that she gets to go to the bathroom at camp before they move to the wilderness. I must say I have never have to go in the wilderness so I can't picture how it is, but I do know a couple jokes about it : )
Thanks for the help

My son used to have a constipation problem at this age as well (he's now 16)... he was given Miralax - which is now available over the counter - it is a powder laxative that has no flavor to it (like a citrucel or benefiber) - he would add it to his drinks - milk, juice, water - etc.
You could try that - also make sure she stays well hydrated at camp.
Try some prune juice and yogurt.
You need to pack her high fiber snacks. She needs to drink lots of water. With the hiking and other type activities it should get things going but without the urgency. The magnesium citrate isn't a bad idea for tonight as a one time thing but you have to know exactly how much to use. You can overdose on it which can lead to coma and death. That's not listed on the bottle. It will clean her out!
Daily fiber, especially when traveling, is hard today but absolutely necessary.
Take care and don't miss her too much :)

1/3 of a small bottle of magnesium citrate. You can get it at your pharmacy. It is really inexpensive and works quickly with no after effects. It tastes like carbonated saline. Yuck! But it works well.
Miralax...mix it in a drink...no smel no taster...works wonders!!!! My poor kids live on it! It's all natural so it's ok.
you can give her stuff to take with her.. like high fiber granola bars.. so this won't happen again while she is away.... you can give her glycerin suppository... for kids.. it's liquid.. and it works right away... tell her to make sure she eats fruit and stuff like that while she is away.... good luck..
Have her give herself a glycerin suppository.
