I know it sounds simple but have you tried avoiding dairy products? Also raw honey helps with local plant allergins. Good Luck, hang in there.
I have a 3 year old son who has had sinus infections since he was a baby. He also had ear infections but that was taken care of with tubes. When he was about 15 months, I took him to an allergist because after the 5th round of antibotics, his sinus infection wouldn't go away! They tested him for allergies like mold, dust, pet dander and they all came back negative. A second allergist suggest irrigating his sinuses everyday, which made things worse. In july of 2006, he had new tubes put in his ears and his adnoids removed. He was healthy for two weeks, then got ANOTHER sinus infection! He is (and has been for a year) on Singular for allergies and about a month or so ago the doctor put him on D allergy as well. These seem to do absolutely nothing for him! Has anyone else had this issue with their kids? I'm open for suggestions because I'm not exactly sure what to do anymore. The doctors say that some kids are like this and will outgrow it but it seems rediculous for him to have a sinus infection every two weeks!! He is currently on Omnicef as an antibiotic for his current infection. He constantly complains that his head hurts and that his throat hurts from coughing..If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them!!
UPDATE: Just to clarify, he has been tested for allergies, food and household-all came back negative. He does drink soy milk because cows milk aggravates his little tummy.

Oh my gosh, I feel so bad for you! I just found out about NAET 2 months ago. It is permentant elimination of alergies etc. in ONE VISIT. Up until now we have looked at diseases as certain annoying symptoms due to poor function or non-function of certain organs or body parts. Medical professionals all over the world are taught to look for symptoms and treat them rather than look further to find the cause of these symptoms. If we did, most of the causes could be found easily and symptoms could be reduced or eliminated permanently. If you are in the Des Moines area I would suggest you go to my doctor Dr. Matt Bandstra he is on Hickman Road in Des Moines. If you aren't in Iowa here is a listing of practicioners in the US http://www.naet.com/subscribers/drnamerica.html
It has worked for my family, I think it will work for yours too :)
I had the same problem as a child and still do to some extent now except I only get the now 3-4 times a year now. As a child my mom used a humidifier or a vaporizer in my room at night and that did help a little as an adult I have discovered using the hum and vap still and now when I take a shower and the bathroom is full of all the steam I use a nasal saline solution, blow my nose and use it again at least twice, try taking him in the bathroom w/ you when you shower and use your steam or just turn on your hot water wait in there for a few minutes and and use the saline, it doesn't hurt I use it on my little ones when they just have a cold and stuffy noses. I know that weather triggers mine and spring and summer are the worst for me I know you said they tested for allergies but ask to have him but on a nasal allergie suppressor ie,Zyrtec it really helps, I come back allergie free also and so does my daughter but she has allergies really badly in just her eyes so we have to use 2 differnet eye drops for her and had to go to an eye doctor for her because all the medication wasn't for children under 2 which she was at the time but because he specialises in the eyes he felt it was okay try an ear nose and throat dr if you aren't already they be able to give you something, good luck, I really really feel for your little boy I've been there hope it helped.

There is hope! Both my kids have been in the doctor every other week for a sinus infection/ear infection. They both grew out of it. yaaa! My daughter had tubes and my son was suppose to get his tonsils out. Prayer helped us. My son is now 5 and we only go to the doctor once or twice a year. If I notice my son's nose act up I give Zyrtec.
My sister's daughter had the same problem and she limited the dairy products and got her something natural to boost her immune systema and it worked.
It will get better
Hello,
I don't have time to read though everyones responses right now, so maybe this has already been suggested. But A netti (neddy) pot (not sure how you spell it) should help out a LOT with this. It looks like a little tea pot, you can buy them at any health foods store or a walgreens. It is FOR cleaning your sinuses. You would think it is really complicated, but it isn't. You lean over a bowl, put the pot up to one nostril, tilt head to the side letting the water run through. No breathing it in or anything, just let the water run through, and it will come right out the other nostil. Then blow nose when through. This is really something that should be done regularly, most people don't realize.
Getting a 3 year old to do this could be a bit tricky, but show them by doing it yourself first. Tell them to hold their breath, and let it run through thier nose.
I hope that helps, and I hope it makes sense. I really am rushed :)
Dear K.-
I just had to respond to you because your son sounds just like my son. In his first year of life we battled ear & sinus infections after another. He has been on every antibiotic you can think of and I keep asking the doctors why is he like this? Finally after going through 4 different doctors, I found one that would test him for milk allergy. I know that my son had symptoms like seasonal allergies, but come to find out, he was severly allergic to cow's milk. Did your son get tested for food allergies? If he didn't I would as soon as possible. It might the reason why he is suffering. I hope this will help because I know exactly what you are going through. I just kept telling myself this was not normal for a kid to suffer like this. I wish you the best and please let me know what you find out.
Hi K. O,
Your 3 year old sounds like he is constantly sick with allergies. I would suggest that it could be that something in the home, daycare or where ever he spends his time. Usually it is something so little, that parents or peditricians, wouldn't even think of it. Have you tried allergy tests? Keep a careful eye on when he starts to get sick. Keep a log on where you are, what he ate, what he was doing, activities on what he is doing. This in turn might be able to pin point the allergic reaction. Good luck, let me know how things turn out.

Hi K.:
Well, the first thing I think of is getting rid of the toxins in your home. Cleaners can cause some real respiratory problems. And of course, respiratory includes ears, nose and throat. Cleaners include bleach, 409, Lysol, etc. are extremely harmful to the lungs and entire body breaking down the immune system.
I am a customer of a health and wellness company that sells products that are safe for the environment as well as our families. The company name is Melaleuca and they have close to 400 products that are great with prices that are comparable to Walmart. Might as well save money and get products in your home that are safer.
If interested, just let me know and I can get you all the details. We're all customers referred by customers so I would love to help you start shopping from this wholesale company and get your son to feeling better. I know my 3 kids have not been to the doctor in over a year since I became a customer.
God bless you and hope to talk with you soon!!

I see you work part time, is your son in daycare? I worked at a daycare in a gym from August until January for some extra money. My son was able to come with me that is why I chose to work there. I only worked about 13 hours a week but the whole time I worked there my son was constantly sick! He had cold after cold and an ear infection that lasted 2 months which we had to use 3 different antibiotics to clear up. No matter what I did he got sick about every 2 weeks. I was SO frustrated! Well as soon as I stopped working, he stopped being sick. He hasn't had an ear infection since. I know this may not be what you want to hear but in that environment sickness is unavoidable. I realized after I quit that it really hadn't been worth the extra money because I spent so much money on Dr's visits and antibiotics and the stress of having a sick child all the time. So if he is in daycare I would reevaluate whether it's worth it and if you could maybe find a friend or relative to watch him instead.
Hello. My four year old daughter has been having sinus infections every 2 weeks since she was 9 months old. Her allergists did all the tests too and everything environmental came back negative, except a Cherry allergy that we've had for 2 years now. He did an immune system test on her, lab work took about a week to come back, but she has some low levels and they gave her a pnuemomax-not sure of the spelling, vaccine, and sadly, we had that injection two weeks ago, and yes, you guessed we have another sinus infection, so I would have his immune system checked and go from there. Good luck.
Hi K.!
Man, do I feel for you!! This sounds like what I had to go through with my 3 year old son. He had reoccurring colds and sinus infections for months. It came to the point of us removing his tonsils and adenoids which give him some relief but not completely. What has helped us tremendously was switching out the cleaning products in our home to a non-toxic alternative. The chemicals in the store bought products were causing him to have allergic reactions, hence the colds and sinus infections. In fact, I not only seen improvements with my 3 year old but my 9 year old's asthma too. I'll give you a website to check out if you want more info. www.workathomeunited.com/momof4.
Don't worry -- I don't sell any products. I am a customer though, and I can show you how to become one if you see fit.
Good luck on your search of helping your son. I know how heart wrenching it is to watch your kids get sick over and over. You feel like your walking in a vicious circle with no end. Have hope! Things can and will get better!!
God Bless,
K.
Sorry to hear that your son has sinus infections.
I know what you are going through, when I was little I had a sinus infection, strep throat, ear infection (whole works) about every 3 weeks for a few years. Dr's think that antibiotics will work they did for awhile but then I had taken so many of them that I was practically immune to anything they would give me.
What finally worked for me was a humidifier and Amoxicillin.
My suggestion is getting a humidifier to put in his room this will keep moisture in the air which will let him breath easier and help keep his sinuses from drying out (I was told dry sinuses cause the infections).
Children's Motrin works very well to help with the pain and headaches. The Amoxicillin was the only antibiotic that cleared the ear infections, sore throat and sinuses.
I wish you guys the best.

K.,
Have the doctors thought about putting him on a nebulizer(i use one for my son for ashma)but even when he has a sinus problem i use it and it does help him clears the nose.See if the doctor will also do a test on his vitamin levels ive herd that kids can sinus troubles from the lack of a vitamin there body is not getting enough of as well.Hope this helps..K.
I wish I could help you. My youngest has that problem with strep infections. He gets them over and over and the antibiotics don't seem to work very well. I just think he has a poor immune system.
I always make sure he finishes all the antibiotics. So that there is none left. I wish I could help you more than that.
Good luck!!!
Hi, I am so sorry you are going thru this. I have a 4 year old son that has been battling sinus infections and ear infections almost all his life. He has had ear tubes twice. When he was 15 months old we took him to see an immunologist in Omaha and he was finally diagnosed with a primary immune deficiency. They ran some simple blood tests and now he gets monthly IVIG (replacement IgG, which is a big part of the immune system) and has done pretty well on it. He has been on it now for 3 years and we have seen a huge decrease in sinus infections in this last year to 18 months.
Good luck with everything.

Hi K.,
I would also be quick to suggest that you look into safer chemical free products. I have lots of testimonies from people about their children and themselves feeling better after getting the chemicals out of their homes. Let me know if you would like to read them.
