W'eve recently redecorated our house and replced many pictures and other things that I'm tired of, but now I'm looking for something to do with the "old" things. Most are too nice for garage sale but I don't need to keep them either........any suggestions?

I definitely agree with the suggestion to try craigslist. That is where I sell most items as well as buy things I need for the house. I have sold everything from dishes to appliances and everything in between. And you are much more likely to get what the item is worth than you would at a yard sale.

This isn't a consignment shop, however Just Between Friends kids sale will take furniture. Check out their website www.jbfsale.com They just had their fall sale, however the spring sale will be coming up in March, I believe. You can earn 65%-70% back from selling it there.

You could try the newspaper or the other smaller papers that you can advertise in.

If you want to donate them, there's several shops that help the Domestic Violence shelters, like Berry Good Buys and I can't think of other names. Our church has a big garage sale that they sell everything there-even antiques, if you want to donate it to our church, let me know. The money from the garage sale goes to our youth and helping them take Mission trips to various countries and helping them rebuild buildings and the community.

Have you thought about passing them down thru the family? I've got a lot of my family's furniture- my Grandmothers and my Mom's furniture. It will be something they can pass down thru the family and cherish. Grandkids could use them for their rooms.

I don't know of any consignment shops for furntiture, mostly I know them for clothes. You might try calling the Red Cross and see what they can recommend. Maybe they have families who have had a fire or need furniture.
Hope this helps you out.

Advertise on craigslist.com and be sure to post photos of what you have. If you post it, they will come... ;-)

Hi,

There is a yahoo group in every city call Freecycle.com people who don't want their stuff anymore that doesn't want it to go to a land fill can post it there and others will come pick it up if you don't want to make any money on it and just want to get it out of your way. I have giving a lot of stuff away on freecycle to people who needed it or just wanted to replace a broken down table or couch, or even people less fortunate than I was, just an ideal for you to chew on.

Best wishes,

T.

Hey, Not sure what your style is but I am looking to decorate my home (as inexpensively as possible) so would love to see what you have to get rid of... if you took a few pics (don't have to be great, just enough to see what "style" they are), I would come to your house to look more closely and purchase... let me know if you are interested... you can email me directly at ____@____.com or call ###-###-####. Thanks! T.

Sell on Craigslist----I have sold a lot of random home decor items here for much higher than you'd get at a garage sale, etc.

There is a nice consignment store in Grapevine for upscale gently used furniture called Kiss It Goodbye Consignment. That may save you the hassle of Craigs list and shipping furniture and all of that stuff. The clientele expect to spend a little more for the quality furnishings they handle.

Craigslist is a good option, so is ebay if they are worth shipping.

There are two consignment shops in Lewisville on Main St. and they're right next to each other. You may want to check them out. I know one of them is called Second Home Furnishings, but I don't know the name of the other. The intersection would be Main St. and Old Orchard in Lewisville. Good Luck!

THere is a great furniture consignment store in NE Dallas (Lake Highlands) at the shopping center at the corner of Northwest Highway and Ferndale. It's Northlake Shopping Center. Anyway, the place is called Resale it and does a lot of business. As long as you have one furniture piece you can bring in any other decorative items. Right now would probably be a great time to get in there but they have so much business they sometimes have a wait list so call soon. here is their webpage

http://www.resellitdallas.com

Sometimes they have the option to bring in decorative pieces with out furniture. It's worth asking. They do a 50/50 split on the profit.

I don't know what area you're in but there is a consignment shop near the Whole Foods on Coit - or at least there used to be!

Also, there is a place in Wylie called Candy and Jams (Antiques and other stuff) that used to take consignments - they still might.

I just looked up "Furniture consignment shops in DFW" and found the following:

Good luck!
