C.,

My son had this procedure done in February on one eye, he was 22 months old. My daughter, who is 9 months, is having both of her eyes done next week.

What doctor are you using??

Our doctor is amazing at this, it takes approx. 5 minutes for one eye. The worst part is that they have to be put to sleep for the procedure.

Post-opt is nothing. My sons procedure was as 7:10 and we were home by noon. Other than being a little sleepy he had no side effects.

My daughter had this procedure done when she was about 10 months old. Very easy!!! They took her back to the surgery room and the doctor told me he would be back out in 1 minute after the procedure was done. It felt like seconds went by when he came out and said everything was fine. They make you stay in the recovery room for 1 hour. My daughter was fine and her eyes where a little swollen from where they went it. She drank her vbottle and was just fine. I was more nervious and upset the she was. Once wewent home, she just wanted to be held and sleep. Back to normal by that afternoon. Nothing bad, i wish you the same luck. Post surgery is a piece of cake. Good luck to you and your son. He will be just fine.

My son had this surgery. The actual surgery itself was no problem at all. What upset him was that when he was waking up, he was restrained, and was not with us, and had an IV in his arm. He was scared and we could hear him from the waiting area, screaming. That part was awful for us. Apparently, Sam's clogging wasn't just tissue, it was bony, and his surgery was a little more intense than it might have been, too. However, after we got back there with him, he was just a little clingy, he was scared, obviously, and my husband had a little trouble dealing with the fact that when he would cry a little bit of blood was in the corner of his eye and a little bit coming from his nose, but that's because they have to break the membrane between the nose and eye when they do that surgery. Once we got him home, he was a little bit less active that afternoon, but pretty much 100% back to normal later that day and the next morning. It was an easy recovery. Just expect to deal with the issue of feeling a little helpless, because your baby is in someone else's hands, and he's going to be upset about waking up alone in an unfamiliar place, but everything will be okay!!!

My son had constant eye infections before he had this surgery to open the clogged ducts.
The hospital let me hold him until they took him in for the surgery.
I just followed the doctors instructions after surgery, no more eye problems after that.

I've had 2 friends who have had this procedure done on their child. They both said it was very simple, only 10 minutes worth of surgery time and the only post-op issue was a little bit of puffiness and a small amount of blood. I would think the biggest concern would be putting your child under anesthesia.
