Hi Amanda,
I completely agree with Julie, who suggested getting an ovulation kit! However, I just used the generic CVS brand. Normally I wouldn't have used the generic brand on something that is so important (conception!); however, my own doctor suggested it, so I tried it, and I was successful with both pregnancies! With my son (firstborn), I was successful the very first month trying! With my daughter, it took 3 months. The CVS brand is only $17, and I'm sure the other store brands are probably pretty comparable. While trying to conceive, I had read about the fact that sooo many women assume they are ovulating on day 14 of their cycles, when really they are not. With my son, I was ovulating around day 16 or 17--with my daughter, it was not until day 21! So it is definitely worth the money to try it, in my opinion.
Like Julie was explaining, it's real easy to do. You get 7 sticks in the box, and the instructions in the box tell you on which day of your cycle to start using the kit. You just pee on the stick, and once you get the positive line, that means you will be ovulating in the next 24 hours, and that the best time to have sex is NOW. (We usually had sex that day, and the two next days as well.) Good luck!!!
