G.,
Is this a lap top or a desktop. It may be the power supply or back up. Co worker had a similar problem. Changed power strip, & battery back up. It was the pwoer cord to the computer itself. My husband changed it for her.
Hi just wondering if anybody can maybe help me out with my computer before I run over it with my car, it just shuts off on you and restarts, my husband said it needed a new hard drive, so we bought a 500gb one and guess what still does it, please help?

sounds like the work of a trojan to me..I'd buy Kaspersky's anti-virus software (it also does spywarea nd maleware and is used by huge computer based orginizations so I feel it is best)
If this program does not find it- then nothing is there.
If it is indeed a hardware issue and not a software issuse (ie the harddrive or RAM vs windows operating system) the system will usually blue screen and tell you waht is malfunctioning

This is a great site to get help and get your questions answered. Kim also has a radio show on Saturday morning that you can call in and she will take you step by step into how to fix what is happening to your computer. There is a board that you can put messages on and get some answers also. This is a great place for all types of information on computers, etc. http://www.komando.com. .
its probably the fan...but maybe its a virus....does it run really slow(?not the internet-i mean the whole computer). if so you should try a system restore. but really i think its the fan, overheating (if its a laptop) this happened to my moms. good luck!
Sounds like you have a virus. Run a virus scan & get rid of it. Good luck.
Could be a lot of different things. but according to my husband who does this for a living, it is most likely the motherboard, since he is assuming you reinstalled(not cloned) everything after the new hard drive?
Good luck.
Mine was doing the same thing. It was a Toshiba laptop. If I remember correctly, my brother-in-law said it was overheating and to buy one of those things that fan it. He said it turns itself off when it gets too hot. I have yet to do that. It hasn't been turning off since. It could be the battery pack needs replacing. Is it your computer or laptop you're referring to?
Hello G.,
Mine was doing the same thing, it eventually got so bad that it would shut off, restart and shut off again, I didnt even have time to log into anything.
My computer has a program that allow you to erase everything and go back to factory settings, just like when you just purchased it. If you go that route, try to download everything that you have saved. I unfortunetly lost everything including precious pics because I was not able to get in any of the programs. I am still not sure what caused it however my computer works perfectly now. Also, you will have to download all windows updates, especially if your computer isn't new otherwise it will not have the ability to support the newer technology....you may want to make sure that you are up to date with everything now before you erase everything, that also can cause problems.
I was also told that it may be overheating however the computer would typically not turn itself back on if it was overheating. Also, take off the cover on the processor and make sure you do not have any dust bunnies....I had many large ones that also may interfere with a computers performance.
Good luck!

I found this website were they fix your computer over the internet turns out its a local company were I live anyway he worked on it for like 2 hours and it was only $30 the site is www.freecomputerguy.com hope this helps.
I have a great computer guy you can call and maybe he can help. Jerry Rothstein ###-###-#### or send him an e-mail at ____@____.com he has his own business VivJer Computers. You can tell him B. recommended you!
Does it say it's updating programs? If so, you can change the updating settings. Go to the Control Panel and click on Automatic Updates. Then change it from the recommended "Automatic." I put mine on "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them."
You could try Disk Clean Up, Disk Defragmenting, and Disk Restore. They are all in your System Tools folder: Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
If you are having problems starting the computer, hit Function Key 8 (F8) and you can work on the computer in "Safe Mode."
Hope ANY of the advice you have gotten so far helps! :-) Computers can be so frustrating (but I love them...)

Send me a private message and I will help you fix the problem. No need to pay someone to help when it is more than likely a simple solution.
