Camp Galileo is hiring. She probably would be a great daycamp counselor.

My 19 year old is coming home from university tomorrow (to San Mateo). She has been trying to find a summer job long distance but hasn't managed to do so. She even came home twice for interviews but didn't get the job. The intensity of the job search will go way up since she'll be home.
"K" has a lot of experience with children. She has babysat and worked at day camps for years, and worked as a counselor at a residential camp for kids with special needs. She has a few ECE units. K is a very responsible young adult; she even earned the Girl Scout Gold Award (think Eagle Scout, but harder). She is looking for a job working with kids: day camps, long-term babysitting, etc. Her only retail experience has been with Girl Scout cookie sales : D
I know how bad the job market is. Does anyone have any ideas for places she can look? She's tried craigslist and other online searches. Any other good ones out there? Is it worth trying to contact a nanny agency for a summer job?
Or are there other types of jobs she should look for besides working with kids? Will anyone even hire her for another job since all of her experience is working with children?
Any advice appreciated; I know many other moms are hoping their college students will also find a summer job - hard to do in this economy!

I noticed that our city's Leisure Services program for summer camps is hiring. Maybe something like that in your area.... She may also try to get on with an agency or a listing. Bananas is a huge, well reputed one but in Oakland. They probably have a sister agency your way. Good luck!
Your daughter has a good start. I would have her join Linkedin.com and Facebook. It is always a good idea to ask everyone you know if they know of anyone looking for childcare. She can, also, join groups that focus on childcare.
She can start by making a list of all the place she knows that children will be in the summer such as preschool and camp.
Nanny agencies are ok, but she would probably be better an make more money if she could do it on her own.
Another idea is to call small businesses if they could use some office help during the summer.
It is always a good idea to look outside the box. She could go to the career centers at any universities to look for jobs, also.
Writing a list of all her qualifications and putting them into different job categories might help.
