If you are breastfeeding, you can drink 3-4 cups of fennel seed tea daily to calm your baby's colic. If you aren't, you could give your baby small sips of catnip tea..use a dropper or a small spoon, or in a bottle.
Has anyone used the Gripe Water Colic Calm to treat their newborns acid reflux problems? My doctor has prescribed Zantac for my three week old. He is on it right now but, I would rather him take something that doesnt have side effects and still get the job done! TIA

HI Suxanne ,
My name is M. and I live in Glendale, Az . I have a freind that had a son wiht the same issue . The baby, Zack was only 3 mos old and was put on zantac for acid reflux and projectile vomiting . She came across a nutritional product in liquid form and in 2 hrs of taking it , his food never came flying back out again . The child is 3 yrs old now and is doing very well ..no meds . I can put ypu in touch with my friend .

WOW! When my kids were babies in the 90's they never recommended any of the things you ladies are mentioning. Times change really quickly I guess.
My first baby had the projectile vomiting and stomach upsets. We just assumed it was colic and he outgrew the projectile vomiting after a month and the tummy upsets by two months. He was happy after that. Maybe I'm becoming "old style" but I would question giving a baby Zantac or any other treatment unless it was really needed long term. I personally have GERD and its not pleasant but it seems physicians are quick to prescribe meds and then later down the line they decide they are harmful.
I'm not judging anyone here, I'm just wondering why the big change. I know when my kids were babies I'd do just about anything to keep them happy and help them sleep better. Unhappy baby=unhappy mommy!
It reminds my of forcing babies sleeping on their side and then having to wear that helmet looking thing to keep the head from becoming misshapen. Mine slept on their stomaches. I can't imagine sleeping with a helmet on! (it was considered to OK stomach sleep way back then!)

My son is now 15 months old and had horrible acid reflux. We later went to a gastrologist and found out he had GERD. After taking the Zantac he was a happy new baby. I tried the gripe water after he was about 6 months. It did not work at all. The zantac was the only thing that worked for him. Just make sure that the acid reflux doesnt get worse. There is nothing like a unhappy baby with GERD. It can be serious and cause long term damage if not caught early.
Hi S.,
I am actually quite familiar with Wellements Gripe Water for Colic. You can purchase it from Fry's. I have a 12 month old daughter and have been giving it to her since she was 2 weeks old. I live by the stuff. I not only gave it to her for an upset stomach, but gave it to her for teething and when she was just being abnormally fussy. The nice thing about the Wellements Gripe Water is that it is made with organic ingredients and they also flash pasteurize to get rid of any bacteria. Baby's Bliss recently had a recall, because they don't do this, and it made a baby really sick. I actually have an extra bottle and some samples here, if you would like me to send them to you. I could also meet you somewhere, if you would rather do that. Please email me at ____@____.com, if interested.
I've been using a gripe water product that I love. I'm not sure of the brand but it is very helpful. I've been using it with my daughter since she was 3 months old.

Hi S. - how funny that you posted this because I just ordered Colic Calm and it came in the mail today! So, I haven't tried it yet but will update you when I do. My 5 month old has been on Zantac since she was 8 weeks and it is no longer working. She has acid reflux and has horrible spit problems - she even spits up her solid food! Zantac did work for a couple months but for the last month it has done nothing and I didn't want to give it to her anymore and am nervous about continually incersing the dosage. I will let you know how it goes! It was recommended to me by several friends who all had great success with it. Good Luck!
