I agree with the others, my first daughter (now 5 1/2) had a sensitivity to dairy even when I breastfed. I could tell if I had had dairy products before feeding her. Then when I had to put her on formula, hard to find one not milk or soy based, so suffered through until a year old (only a few months). Chronic runny nose, ear infections, constant cough. So at a year, changed to rice milk (I don't recommend soy because of the hormone estrogen found naturally in it). The rice milk we use is plain unsweetened and fortified. We did not do almond milk because of the possibility of nut allergies. My daughter to this day still chooses and prefers rice milk in her cereal.
My daughter was also put on Singulair and Zyrtec everyday for possible allergies. I started her on 1/2 cap of probiotics (has 14 strains in it) and within two weeks I had her off Singulair, the coughing stopped and the nose cleared up. A couple weeks after that I stopped the Zyrtec. Now we use the probiotics only during cold and flu to pump up the immune system, but she has no allergies or sensitivities to any food (she couldn't eat dairy and berries before). She still can't overindulge in dairy, without an upset stomach.
Let me know if you need more info on the probiotic. I was given the info from a holistic nurse.
