Coach Vs. Couch Outlet, What's the Deal?

Does anyone know what the difference is? If you are familiar with this brand and have bought from both, please let me know. I'd like to get my daughter a Coach backpack for Christmas. The ones that are sold through the online outlet website are way cheaper than the ones sold at the mall store, but the outlet ones are supposedly genuine and top quality, so why are they cheaper?

Thank you.

The outlet usually has stuff that is from last season. It's still genuine Coach for MUCH less.

Edit..the Coach outlet I'm talking about is the actual outlet stores..not an online store.

the outlet's are the same - they have minor defects or a season or two old.

I didn't realize there was an online outlet for Coach. In fact -I just googled, and there are complaints out there about online Coach outlets saying they're fakes and scams. The official Coach website only points you to a factory store locator on their page. I wouldn't buy from anything online unless it's the official coach.com site. The Coach factory outlet stores are cheaper, but they are the same bags you buy at Coach stores or department stores. They are the standard lines or else they're from past seasons -if there's an irregularity or problem, it's tagged, but for the most part they're just bags they didn't sell from seasons past. You can expect discounts of anywhere from $20 -$100 usually depending on the bag and how recent it is.

I have bought from Coach outlet and the online (they do send you a certificate of authentication). Yes, there is an online. You have to buy something from the actual outlet store to get on their email list. Then you can buy online. The purses in the outlet ARE real Coach purses, they are just the older models. They are the models that are more plain too.

I called Coach and they do NOT have a legitimate outlet website, so beware! A physical Coach outlet store (the Coach website will locate a store close to you) is genuine Coach, just out of season overstock, and very discounted.

The original Coach from the store has specific linings, labels noting it is " original". Coach outlet is Coach, just not what is exactly in the store meaning different linings in some, different labeling, etc.

Part of it is snob appeal but in reality... You will not get a genuine Coach in season for much less at an outlet. Pieces are in an outlet for a reason!!

Also, there are coach outlets run by Coach. Beware if you are on a site simply advertising Coach. That could be a knockoff/ scam.

Basically same brand but clear to anyone knowing Coach store vs outlet which is which.

My daughter loves Coach and most pieces we have are from the Coach store or an original from Nordstroms or Dillards.

She does have a couple of pieces, smaller, from the outlet that are still holding up nicely after 3+ yrs.

So is there a difference? Yes? Can you tell if it came from an outlet? Yes, if you know the product. Is it that big of a deal? No, not unless you are the type that has to have the absolute product so everyone knows you paid full price.

With my daughter? She's used Coach since she was 12. She's 16 now and still uses EACH piece to this day for different occasions and they all look great!

There are actual outlet stores, I have gotten purses there. They are genuine and as real as the Coach stores in malls. There isn't an online outlet store for Coach, you'd better check into that.

Leah H is correct, you have to buy in-store at Coach Outlet to get on their email list and then you have access to their on-line sales. They just had one and a purse my daughter purchased at the outlet for $105 was $143 on the on-line sale, so I think it still pays to shop the outlet store. All but 2 of my Coach purses & wallets & totes have come from the outlet store, have had them for years, no difference between those and the 2 purchased at full price Coach store. You get the same guarantee on the product at both outlet and full price store. They just had some packbacks in clearance plus an additional 30% off. Can't beat those savings.
