I wash my clothes in cold water w/ Tide. I dry them w/ bounce on high. They always fade. I just bought my kiddo some great fun bright summer/spring clothes and I don't want to see them fade like everything else. What can I do?

What can I do next?

Drying is what is fading them - especially on high heat. The water temp has nothing to dow/ fading the color. Put them in the dryer on low heat for ten minutes then hang them dry - drying them for ten minutes takes out the wrinkles and keeps them from being stiff. I have two drying racks along w/ hanging some things to dry. I have two boys and their clothes, even the hand-me-downs, still look great - no fading, stretching or shrinkage. In fact, we still have clothes from college b/c I don't dry our clothes, we're 41 & 42. BTW, I do dry jeans, socks/underwear and towels all the way...

Try something besides a petrochemical laundry detergent. I use Shaklee's Fresh Laundry. If an item has red, you can wash it once in cold water and vinegar to "set" the color. Also, try a veggie-based laundry sheet instead of petrochemical. Again, I use Shaklee's - and they are recyclable, too.

Let me know if you want ordering info.

rinse them with vinegar and water before washing them. It sets the dyes.

Not much else to say but agree with the other poster. Drying with heatstresses the fabric, makes it' all pill and fades the colors. I hang dry most of my clothes if I can.

When I dry my clothes, I only put the jeans in the dryer. I hang dry the rest such as t-shirts, swimwear & such. Try that, I do it so that things don't shrink. But I guess it will also work for fading. Good luck.
