Hi all I am trying to decide on what cloth diapers I want to use does anyone have any favorites or any that you just didn't like, and why? I don't want to spend money I don't really have on diapers that don't work well. Thanks R.

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone I've been using cloth for about 2 months since he was around a month old I was lucky and got some off freecycle mostly homeade contours which I loved but he is outgrowing. I do have the chinese prefolds right now but my little man is skinny and I can't seem to get them on tight enough. I am thinking about the mother ease onesize diapers they seem to have good reviews. It will probably feb. before I make my purchase so I have a little time to decide.

Hi R.,

I was in the same position before the birth of my son. I took a class and learned about all the different types of diapers. I absolutely love motherease diapers and have never had any problems with them at all. We bought the complete package of the one size diapers with the breathable covers and he's used them from about 2 months old and he's still in them. We buy a new set of covers about every 3 or 4 months as he out grows them. They never leak and he only gets a rash if he's teething. You can order a sample at www.motherease.com. I swear by them. Also, I never soak my diapers. I buy flushable diaper liners to take care of the poop. I store the dirty diapers in a flip-top garbage can with a washable waterproof reusable bag (of which I have 2 large ones). I just empty the bag into the washing machine and throw the bag in after. I prewash and then do 2 wash cycles with vinegar rinse. Then I dry on low-heat. For traveling, I bought a small waterproof ditty bag to keep the diapers in until I get home.

Before he was big enough for the one size I bought 2 dozen chinese prefold infant size and 4 bumeze infant size covers. I held the prefolds in place using snappi's. You can find all that stuff at green mountain diapers on the web. After he out grew them the diapers work great as burp clothes. Good luck.

There is a website, www.momadvice.com, and I know she did an article all about cloth diapering. You should check it out, there may be some answers on it.

R.,
I used cloth with my son and it was a lot of trial and error. Going to www.diaperpin.com helped me so much with all my questions and I made some great friends. My favorites ended up being pocket diapers, mostly fuzzi bunz and snap ez.

Hi!
We used cloth diapers with our kids. My favorite store is greenmountaindiapers.com. I prefer using the simple 'pre-folded chinese diaper'. I found that you can not buy cloth diapers in store here (central IN)... the ones you find are thin and flimsy and not worth the $$. Get a good diaper service quality (DSQ) diaper than is thick, absorbant and stands up to many many many washings! I like Alexis pants, but I don't think they make them anymore. The other covers I really like are Bummis and Bumkins. Also, Bumkins makes an all-in-one diaper that we loved. It's what we used when traveling, for babysitters or my husband. :) They are so simple.. they look and feel and go on like disposable diapers... complete with velcro fasteners. You can find them on Ebay for decent prices. Cloth diapers cost more upfront... you want to get good quality stuff that will last... if you go cheap you won't have a good experience and will probably end up with disposables before you know it... and waste the money on cloth. Many companies like greenmountaindiapers.com offer a variety pack where you can buy 1 each of several kinds to find out what you like.
