I like all in ones for when they are older, but I like covers for newborn-6 Months
I have recently made up a few cloth diapers and wanted to know from the new moms is it better to have the all in one diaper or a daiper without the covering? The diaper I made was from flannel but had no outter cover. I even made an insert of flannel to use inside in a pocket or just as an insert depending on how I made them. Thanks for your responses to the "old lady".

I vote without. The laminated polyester can wear out quicker if wash as often as a diaper. Plus I like using different covers at different times, on different kids, for a more custom fit.
I like the all in ones. Of course...that is all I ever used so I have no comparison.
I preference was with a separate cover. I like fleece and wool, especially at night. I had some pocket diapers for the daytime. I did make a few denim diapers. (Flannel inner and denim outer.) Those were great in the summertime with just a tshirt and no cover. I'm not sure I would trust them under clothes without a cover.
The evolution of diapers have come so far haven't they. My daughter uses cloth and uses both with and without. But mostly uses the covering. I've heard other mothers say they like the ones with covers better.
Sorry can't give a lot here. But I think it's great you made diapers. I used both cloth and disposables, most disposables and was ever so thankful for the wonder of them, but that was back when. My grandbabies all use dispos. except for my one daughter's babies. But she's really into the environment thing as her husband teaches about this. So she'd automatically use cloth. And of course now we know more about the chemicals and such in the throw aways, but man they're so much easier. I think both the covers and without have their pros and cons.
