I usually only ask about kid stuff, but I am stumped. I had a menstral cycle from Oct. 29-5 and now it is the 12 and I am bleeding again! It started yesterday and has been acting just like a menstral cycle with slight cramping. I got off the shot (after 2 years) in June and have not been using anything and getting regualar periods. Before my son I was like a clock. I took a pregnancy test, which was neg. I haven't found much good info. on the internet. I was just wondering if anyonne knoew anything about weekly periods. I am stumped. It just seems wierd.

What can I do next?

I took my last shot in March of this year, after 3 years of it. I didn't have my first period until October, and about 3 weeks later I am having another. I called the Dr's office to check on why it was taking so long to get back started- not that I was in any kind of hurry- but I was told that it can take up to a year to get back to normal, and every woman is different. Some bleed non stop for a couple months once they get off the shot- ICK!
Just give your body time, it will get back to normal again.

My daughter delivered in Feb (as it says in my profile).. She went on the depo shot and couldnt stopp bleeding (only a cpl days at a time). They took her off of that in June and she is now on the pill. This is the very first time she hasnt started at the "2 week interval" (knock on wood)... I have called many times as the bleeding for unkown reasons is genetic, but they told me due to the hormones from delivery to the extensive hormones in the shot, that this is quite normal for up to a year, but if it happened again this month they would check it out. Dont get frustrated, just know it is very normal for a bit...If it continues for 5 or 6 months I would surely call and ask about it...
Good Luck
Tam

I had a similar thing happen to me a few months ago. I haven't taken birth control for 7 years. We had just started trying for #2 when this happened. I FREAKED OUT! I thought that maybe somthing happened - like I got preg. and lost it right away. I called my OB and the nurse was almost laughing at me (you know that tone of voice that says why are you calling about this). She told me that it's normal as you get older for your time to change a little. I told her that I have always been on time to the day and I thought it was odd that right when we get really serious about trying, this happens. She asured me that it's normal. Hope this helps.

There can be lots of reasons for off-month bleeds. Fibroids can cause bleeds. If you have a slow thyroid, you can get long painful periods and then they can get close together. Both should be pretty easy to find out. An easy blood test for thyroid function and a quick gyno exam should tell the doctor if you have fibroids. I'm not a doctor, but if I were you, I'd go see one. Stress and diet and changes in exercise habits can sometimes mess around with hormones enough to upset menstral cycles.

Good luck with university and raising a child. My hat's off to you!

I have never been regular but when I got off depo shot after 4 years I had very heavy and frequent periods for a while. I never had periods on the shot so I had a lot of build up on my utterous walls and my doctor said that is the reason for mine. If you are concerned I would make an appointment with your doctor. Peace of mind and getting your questions answered will be work the copay. Good luck!

Hi K.:
I dont want to freak you out but have you visited you Gyno about this? This could be a sign of polyps or cysts also. If I were you I would visit a gyno or if funds dont permit then maybe a local public health center. It could be a number of things from what I mentioned above to an ectopic pregnancy, which can be lethal if not treated, to cancer.
Of course i am not a Dr, and i have no experience with the shot, pills only for me no shots in my upper behind thank you very much, lol, so I would call and get professional advice and see what they say.
I hope that everything turns out ok for you and that it really is nothing. I know you said that you took a preg test and it was neg but you never know.
K.

my daughter is 8 years old. before her i was also like a clock. after her, about every couple years i get all screwy. it seems to happen when she is going through changes as well, which can bring on more stress for us as parents. and stress is a large factor in our cycles. if we're out of wack, our bodies get wacky as well. i've been to doctors about this and the universal advice is, relax, eat good. take care of yourself first and everything else should follow.
being a single mom in school is probably one of the hardest things you'll ever do, be good to yourself.

Hi K.,

I just wanted to let you know that when I got off the shot after 3yrs, I had irregular periods for a year and my doctor said that was completly normal because your body has to get used to "not being on the shot." I would sometimes have a period twice each month. I ended up getting pregnant after a year and now I am back on the shot. Hope this helps. Take care and ask your doctor if you are worried.

My sister is what I call a "catcher." She catches other peoples periods. Usually if she starts hanging out with someone new or peeing in a new place she gets her period. Sometimes she gets it back to back like you are. And it takes her 3-6 months to regulate again. I know it is a long shot, but maybe it will help you figure out your mystery.

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I was just as freaked out. I went to the DR (it was time for my yearly check up) and he said this can happen for no reason at all. He wasnt worried if it only happened once, but if it happened frequently he would want to check into it more. I guess some times we can skip ovulation and our body goes into period mode. Lucky for me it only happened that one time. I would watch it and if it happens again or if you are still worried I would call your Dr. I hope your results are the same.
