Clomid - Addison,TX

I have discussed with my OB/Gyn that my husband and I are ready to begin trying to get pregnant in January. I have had menstrual cycles that last anywhere from 40 days to 50+ days. I have to say that I have tracked them with temperature, cervical mucus, and even blood work from the MD and it is apparent that I ovulate, it just takes awhile. So, he has given me the option to take Clomid to shorten my cycles and give me a good idea of when I ovulate. Which sounds great to me, but I did conceive my son in the fall of 2005 without anything, he was completely unplanned. So, there is nothing physiologically wrong with me or my husband, but it takes so long for me to ovulate that is gives me less chances than the average female.

I want another baby so bad, and I want to know what experience with Clomid other women had. How did you feel? Would you do it again? Do you recommend it? Did it even help you get pregnat, and if so how quickly? Thanks for all the input ladies!

I got pregnant the first month on the lowest dose and I had no side effects. We are thinking about getting pregnant again and I will probably have to go on Clomid again. I have PCOS, so I don't ovulate regularly. Even on the clomid, I din't ovulate until day 24. We thought it didn't work, but then I didn't get my period and we tested.
Good Luck!

I took Clomid for one month and conceived my (almost) 16 year old daughter. I have taken it off and on for 11 years now to try to have another child and we are still trying:( But we have seen a fertility specialist and she says in vitro is our best option at this point. Good Luck!!

Hi A.,
Well I took it a few years ago and did get pregnant with using it after the third cycle but I'm sad to say that I lost the baby very early shortly after finding out.
I had no problems taking Clomid at all and would take it again but I don't need to (We adopted two babies since then) and I'm now 43 and not interested in getting pregnant now! :)
I wish you the best.

I took Clomid also trying to conceive our second child. I had found out that I had Endometriosis and Polysystic Ovarian Disease and both of those "complicated" things as far as me getting pregnant. Unfortunately it did not work for us. We went to a specialist who said I should get pregnant with her method (coming in to office 5 days a week for shots) within a few months. But we decided not to go that route. Just about the time that we had become somewhat ok with one child, we got pregnant on our own. He will be four this weekend!

Good luck to you!

I have a little longer cycle too and I tried clomid for 3 months without success, but I'd probably do it again. I had no side effects, and my skin was super clear! Good luck in TTC.

I used it for both my girls. The first time took a while, but the second worked on the first try! I had no side effects except pain during ovulation. I felt really crampy on the side that was releasing the egg. I have PCOS so my case had other issues, but Clomid was a bessing for me!

I didn't take it, but did a lot of research into it and talked with many women who had taken it. My doc was prepared to give it to me, but I was blessed to get pregnant on my last cycle trying w/o. Anyway, the overwhelming majority of people had very, very good things to say. I talked to several people who got pregnant on their first or second cycle and only 1 person that wasn't successful within 5 months. I am sure you already know about the higher chance of twins. That definitely seems to hold true. So long as you will be ok with multiples, then definitely go for it. There are some good support groups online too. I was on one on Yahoo Groups for awhile. God bless and good luck.

I was having issues ovulating normally while trying to get pregnant with my first baby. I took Clomid and it worked the first month. I was on the lowest dose and I didn't have any side effects at all. It was awesome. We had been trying for so long and that worked like a charm. I am now pregnant with my second and we didn't have to use it this time. But, I was prepared to use it again if we weren't able to conceive in a reasonable time period. I would recommend it. Best of luck!

I was also having irregular cycles in 2004. My OB/GYN put me on clomid the lowest dose in October 2004. I believe they come in strengths of 50mg, 100mg, & 150mg. Then for November and December I was on the highest dose. After 3 months of clomid I did get pregnant with twins. I had no side effects. Clomid can make you release more than one egg at a time since it is ovulation stimulant. In Septermber I was diagnosed with PCOS and didn't ovulate properly. Clomid helps to ovulate you more regularly. My next child was concieved naturally but if the situation were to ever call for me to have to take it agian, I would in a heartbeat.
