I have stone tile flooring throughout my kitchen area, which includes a large eat-in area. The tile was in the home when I bought it - its pretty but I do not know how in the world to keep it clean!! The tile is not smooth - which I guess means that it doesn't have a laminate on it - so grime really gets in...Does anyone have suggestions on what I can use to clean it - AND keep it clean? ...And once I get it clean should I put some sort of laminate on it? The only thing that I know works is the Mr. Clean Eraser, but that just stinks having to be on my hands and knees - plus it takes FOREVER! I would love to hear your ideas on what works! Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Your stone tiles may need to be sealed more. Call Design Tiles by Zumpano Enterprise ###-###-#### 1220 Kennestone Cir Ste K, Marietta, GA. Some people only seal the floors a couple of times and that may not be enough for a high traffic area like a kitchen. You may need to seal a couple more times so that the dirt doesn't get embedded in the stone. Give Zumpano's a call they can really help you out.

Hey Alicia, My husband and I own a flooring business and I also have stone floors you should inquire whether or not the floor is sealed, but my suggestion to you would be one part vinegar and two parts water and yes you should have either some one seal/reseal it or seal it your self but you may want someone to just come out and look at it before you do anything call a refurbishing company in your area tell the sales person that you have just moved in and aren't real sure if the floor has ever been sealed and if it would be possible to get an estimate for sealing the floor and when they come out ask them what they suggest you use to clean it and if it has been sealed good and if not then ask them what it would cost to seal it and if it is outrageous and out of your budget email me or get with me and I will tell you how to seal it your self. Hope this helps! you can use the vinegar and water even if it isn't sealed...let me know A. ____@____.com

Just use a mop & a liquid cleaner like Pinesol or use a cleaner
made just for tile sold at a flooring place. Either one is good. They have special cleaning solutions just for the grout. That is usually when you are ready to do some really heavy cleaning about once or twice per year for that. Cleaning tile floor is easy. You won't have a laminate- that is for vinyle flooring only, which is a usually a cheaper type of flooring.

take a picture of your floor and head over to home depot....at least they'll be able to help you with what type of tile it is. If it is something like travertine......there are sealants you can put on it to help minimize clean up and messes.

Call a tile store and ask them. They are going to be the ones that are going to help you the most. My husband goes to a place called Interceramic. It is near Discover Mills. Interceramic doesn't usually deal with the general public but I am sure they will help you with any questions you may have.

Hope this helps
