Well, I would say that something like lime away would be the last ditch effort. If comet didn't do it then I think it may just be stains and not going anywhere. It may be clean and just stained.
Is there any sort of cleaning product out there that will help a very neglected soap scum bathtub. I have been having my 12 year old clean his own bathroom, unfortunatly I havent been keeping tabs on the quality of cleaning he is doing. Now its time for my 1 year old to take baths in the tub & I want it super clean, like almost new kind of clean, before putting him in it. (he has been using an inflatable duck tub). I have tried a heavy duty scrub brush with comet, I have tried the Kaboom cleaner. Both products have gotten some up, but not all. Any suggestions?????
Thank you

Just be super careful when mixing products. Don't ever Ever EVER mix bleach with ammonia because the resulting fumes are toxic and can be fatal. Wish I could help with specific info for you problem, but I just worried when I read so much about ammonia--don't want you to get hurt by adding bleach to the mix. Best wishes.
Mr. Clean Magic Erasers have always worked wonderfully for me.
Interesting question! I googled and came up with these sites. Maybe one will be worthwhile.

In regard to the second, site, I've never used Bar Keeper's Friend on my bathtub, but it wouldn't surprise me if it worked. It works on a lot of other things!
There is this stuff called quick job. I was sold to me door to door. It is expensive but so worth it. It is a high concentrate cleaner that you can dilute to use on toilets, sinks, mirrors and windows. I even use it on my white grout. However in the tub it is amazing. I have a porcelin tub so I am not sure about plastic ones. When our tub was really bad I sprayed it on let it set and then sprayed some more. Useing a steel wool pad it came off like melted butter. I have let friends borrow some and they have all loved it too. Go to quickjob.com it is like $100 for 4 bottles of concentrate. I bought mine 5 years ago and still have 2 full ones. You can buy just one bottle but it was worth it to us to buy all four.
bar keepers friend......works really well and is not toxic with awful fumes as most shower cleaners are
You need a cleaner with ammonia as an ingredient. It is still the best degreaser there is and soapscum is just that....grease. I would attact this scum with full strength ammonia soaked on a rag and let sit for a while before srubbing it with a nylon scrubber. Good ventilation is a must. Good luck and happy bathtime for the little one !!
It depends on your water. I live in a soft water area and the spray can of scrubbing bubbles always works. No scrubbing. Just spray the foam on and wait. Then wipe away.
You might try the Mr. Clean eraser on a porcelan (sp.?) tub. I would not recommend that on a softer tub surface.
And finally, there's letting the tub soak, filled with water and amonia, as long as you can leave a window open.
Best of luck.
Soft Scrub with Bleach And a Scotch brand sponge with ruff and smooth surface. Works like a champ!!
