You know the ones.... they are about 1" wide and there are about a thousand of them per window. I can't imagine going one by one with the rag and soapy water. There must be a better way! Do you know what that is? But they really need a cleaning, not just a dusting.... Thanks!!

So What Happened?

In the tub with hot, soapy water they went! Well, the water ended up disgusting and I now realize I have to clean all my blinds. Great. But it was pretty quick and I let them drip dry for a while, then put them on the window to completely dry. Looks like I have a new project. 4 down 12 to go!

I used to pull them off the window, then soak them in the tub with whatever cleaner I had handy and thought appropriate, then, spray with the showerhead, wipe with a rag and re-hang.

vowed never to use them again. we have curtains and sheers which go through the wash once a year.

Good luck to you and yours,

Yup, mine went in the bathtub too. I think I maybe even used shampoo b/c that's what I had! :) Or maybe dish soap, which is probably what I did, that makes more sense!

I soaked them and then sort of gave them a general once over with a washcloth. Then I emptied the tub and hung them over the curtain rod to dry.

I met a guy whose whole job it is to clean the blinds at chain restaurants. He has a whole setup, but the bottom line is, he lays them out so they're completely extended, and then he pressure washes them. (If your blinds are old, be careful about this - the paint could peel if you use too strong of a setting.) Then he gives them a light scrub with a brush to loosen any remaining grime, pressure washes them again, and hangs them dry. Done!

We're they the expensive ones?
If so, I have removed them and put them into soapy water in the bath tub and scrubbed them.
If they're the cheap ones? I dust for a year or so with a swifter duster, then pitch & replace!
