try putting them into a paperbag with baking soda in it, then shake the bag. I've heard it works, but I've never tried it.
Does anyone have a good way to clean the dust off of fake flowers? I have one vase with smallish flowers and they are super dusty. I tried simply shaking them off outside, but they are still pretty dirty. There are a zillion little flowers and I don't really want to take the time and hand wipe down each one. I was hoping someone had a clever, quick(er) way to clean them off. I tried using the vacuum, too, but that was too powerful and sucked a few flowers off. Thanks for the ideas!

This suggestion is for silk arrangements. I don't know if it works on plastic.
If it just too much trouble to do the previous suggestions, there is another option. Michaels Craft Store carries a spray. Either pump or aerosol that you spray every single piece of the arrangement. It's foamy and just drips off. It literally eats the dust. Do it outside or in a garage with papers underneath. Just let it air dry and you are done. (I kind of remember it being around $6-7.00)
This does work great. And, it seems to slow down the new accumulation of dust.
I have used a spray duster - but I recommend doing this outside as too much dust can raise up in your face! LOL~
I have a computer, and those little cans to spray out the dust in the keyboard and other nooks and cranny's work great on other household items.
Someone once told me to put the arrangement in a paper bag with a handful of coarse salt and shake. You could also use sand if you have any available. By using the paper bag, it keeps the dust in a contained area. Good luck.
Spray on some water and wipe it with a cloth. Since you are dusting it anyways, it only takes a few nintues extra.
I too am familiar with the idea of salt - put the flowers in a bag with some salt, seal it and shake, shake, shake.
Greetings S K,
This is how my Mom used to clean plastic flowers. It
should work for yours.
Put a small amount of warm water and a drop of dish washing liquid into a utility sink, a bathtub or pail.
Then gently swish the flowers around in the warm sudsy water. Let dry a few hours.
If you have success with this method, I suggest you do this on a regular basis to keep the flowers from getting too dirty.
Much success!
Peace, love and joy,
S.
Canned air works great!
A hair dryer! Easy - simple and quick!
I swish them in dishwater and rinse with a gentle spray every now and then.
I have used a hose/ bathtub for larger trees and such.
wash them in soapy water byhand
Put them in a brown paper sack with several tablespoons of salt and shake gently. The salt will help "clean" the flowers by attracting the dust particles. Hope this helps.
