What the best thing to use to clean scrapes/ cuts?
What the least painful? The most? Which ones are good to stay away from using??

Just curious because today my sister Maddie (8) told me that the rubbing alcohol hurt to bad, and asked if there was anything else I can use? I don't know of anything else but hydrogen peroxide, and from my experiences it hurts more...

What can I do next?

a good scrubbing with soap and water is usually the best for cleaning superficial cuts. If they are deeper and need stitches then they are going to get a good cleaning at the hospital with a betadine soap and water (sometimes they will only get a good saline rinse).

You can just use plain soap and water, and rinse it out really well. (A squirt bottle is good for this.) For particularly germy scrapes, I like both Hibaclense (this is the stuff they use for pre-op skin prep in hospitals - it costs a little more, and because of that, you have to get it from behind the pharmacy counter, but can't be used on the face), or Band Aid brand makes an antiseptic wash (this is what's in our car first aid kit). Both are pain free.

Just run the cut under water, then you can spray something like Bactine, or put some neosporin ointment and a bandaid.

Alcohol, iodine and hydrogen peroxide are really NOT the best things for cuts. The very best thing is antibacterial soap and water. Wash it out, dry it gently with a paper towel, and let it air-dry. It's really best to avoid band-aids unless it's in a spot that will be bonked a lot. The body knows how to heal itself.

There are kid friendly pain free ones if you just look in the first aide kit aisle at the store. Mine is part of a "BooBoo Emergency Kit" and my son feels no pain and I have had great results. My dad used to use the Iodine OUCH! My sister tells her kids to "suck it up" and uses Second Skin.

I would never consider putting rubbing alcohol on a scrape or cut unless we were in the wilderness and that's ALL we had. It would definitely hurt badly and sting like crazy. The hyd. peroxide is our choice and then add neosporin with bandaid if necessary.

My family use shredded turmeric to put on any wounds, deep cut also. I had a cut that was pussy and red. Put turmeric on it, wrapped it with bandage and it was normal in the next day. Turmeric is anti bacterial and infection.
But, if you want it to have no scar, Chinese people has this Tieh Ta Yao Gin. Many fake ones, so you must buy it in a Chinatown or Asian groceries. It stings really bad when you apply it, but it heals quickly and left no scar.
Good luck.

Soap and water. And then some soothing antibiotic like neosporin. For superficial cuts....

I don't have health insurance right now so I really can't afford any infections. My routine for cleaning wounds starts with soap and water, then an alcohol rinse followed by neosporin and a band-aid. Haven't had anything get infected yet. Wounds healed fast and clean.
