Cleaning Ceramic Tile Floor--should Be Simple, Right?!

Okay, Ladies! I have had it with my 1980's ceramic tile kitchen floors. Everything I use to clean them (other than plain water--eew!) leaves a film on them. Our shoes leave light smudges on them right after I've cleaned. I've used the Swiffer Wet Jet (leaves the worst film), vinegar and water, some "No-Rinse" mop stuff. What is the problem?! Can anyone recommend something else for me to try? If I try everything in the book and nothing works, I WILL go get myself a steam mop, but in the meantime, I'd love your advice. TIA!!!

What can I do next?

I've had the SAME problem....dirt gets in my tile really bad....I had a sales-man come by the other day selling cleaner that is suppose to be the BEST...suppose to leave NO film behind, like Your ordinary cleaner...I thought it was a gimmick, because now-days You have to be very sceptical, but he showed me how it worked, and I tryed it....It really cleaned my tile good, and the product is used for TONS of things....suppose to replace everything in your house...The web-site to look at the product is, www.advanage.com, and they should have a number on there, if You wanted to talk to someone.....

I highly recommend a professional cleaning from Turbo-Tec Tile & Grout Cleaning. They do a hot water power wash and extract the soiled water at the same time. They cleaned my kitchen and dinette spotless and the sealed the grout. They recommended that I keep it clean and residue free by maintaining it with hot water and amonia or a little concentrate of Dawn added to the water. Sounds strange at first using Dawn but it works great and leaves no residue, no sticky floor. Neal is the owner, very professional and reasonably priced. He is at ###-###-#### or www.theturbotec.com. He also steam cleans my carpet every 6 months since I have pets and does a great job. Jen

Hi Jessica,
Absolutely Shaklee Basic H2 is the best! I'm a Shaklee Independent Distributor and I use Basic H2 for everything from my windows/mirrors, degreaser, general cleaner, floors, grill.....you name it. I LOVE IT! AND I used it before I started distributing.

If you don't want to use anything at all you can just use water on your floor. I just bought one of those Shark Steamers at Costco and it does a good job without anything but water. That's another option. I think either way will work for you.
Best of Luck,
P.

Have you tried a sink full of water with just a cap full or 2 of bleach?

Shaklee Basic-H2 is the best I have found! Plus its very concentrated and inexpensive. I have 2 children, 1 husband, and 4 dogs with a pool and my tile looks great even after wet feet are all over it.

My husband and I own a professional carpet cleaning company, which we clean tile and grout as well. And we see this all the time. The floor stores, and we recommend Once N Done by Armstrong. Cost about $5 for 1/2 gallon. Follow the instructions to the T and there should be no residue left behind. We do not recommend the Swiffer - it really leaves a residue, and never use pine oil cleaners or orange oil cleaners. It will probably take a couple cleanings to remove the residue from the tile - you may want to consider having it professionally cleaned and then maintain it from there.
