I have almost 20 sets of two inch faux wood blinds in my house, and I hate to clean them! Is there an easy or fairly easy way to clean blinds? Thank you!

I HATE doing this chore but it seems likes it always needs to be done. I am looking forward to hearing suggestions.

I think this chore is generally hated by all, including myself. I do it the old fashioned way, with a diluted cleaning solution and rags. One by one. Ugh. I feel your pain.

I take down a different room of blinds, once a week, and soak them in the bathtub with a little bit of Dawn detergent, rinse and air dry. If you use harsh cleaners, the cords will deteriorate. It is a small hassle to take them down and put them back up, but much easier than trying to clean slats individually. HTH

I feel your pain. We have about 36 of those blinds in our house.

When I'm in a rush, I use the soft brush attachment to my Oreck and it does a decent job.

BUT....to do it correctly, I use baby wipes from Target and wipe down each piece of wood. I'll do this while listening to my favorite radio program or listening to the food network shows on tv.

Not too long ago, a mom, here on mamasource, said she used clorox wipes on her blinds and I think that is a great idea. I will use the Clorox wipes for my next blind cleaning.

Happy cleaning.

I feel you pain, too. We have 26 sets I think. When we first bought the house, I loved the idea of all the windows. Now, just as others have said, it is a big chore.
I don't know if I have any great advice other than what the others have said.
I have done alot of them. I took them down one by one when we first moved in because they were absolutely filthy. I have also used a small vacuum attachment, a damp cloth, and the last one was the Swiffer dusters where you use the stick.
Any of these is time consuming, I know.

One idea that I didn't see mentioned, which I use for dusting blinds and my furniture, are the yellow dusting cloths by Guardsman. They are great because they pick up dust like the disposable dusters, but you can use them over and over, just by washing. I have had mine for 4 years, and am just now replacing. You can get a pack of 5 for 9.99 at Bed, Bath, Beyond. If you get their 20% off coupons, it'd only be 8.00. May sound like a lot, but in the end it is cheaper than the disposable cloths because you just wash and reuse. Plus they don't go into the landfill.
Please post an update when you have found what works for you. Would love to hear it

I also have wood blinds in my house and you have to consider that these are wood and some of these wipes can be harmful to the wood. Swiffers work pretty good but it is time consuming just like anything would be. I have used my vaccuum cleaner with the attachment too but it seems like it's just a hit and miss sort of solution. Good luck!
