So What Happened?

Thanks! I am going to go with the Magic Eraser first and see how that goes. Thanks for the responses.

I clean mine with liquid bar keepers friend and a scrubber sponge. Works great with few chemicals and no harsh fumes. Good luck...this is my least favorite chore ever!!!

I use Clorox spray and after I am done showering, I spray wet walls and wipe with rag then rinse, if it is real bad you will need tha clorox squares that bleach, they are magical! Use both and that should do it!

What I found that works well is Mr. Clean's Magic Erasers. Great for soap scum on the glass area, and works well on the bottom floor.

We have a glass shower and after every shower we wipe/squeegee it down and dry it. Pain in the rear but it helps. On cleaning days, I use vinegar on the glass. I use tilex with bleach or soft scrub with bleach on the floor.

About once a year or so.....I buy marine polish (for boats) and I lightly coat the glass, let it dry then buff it off. This is REALLY a nightmare job but afterwards, the water just beads up on the glass and the squeegee takes care of the rest. I guess you could say it works a lot like RainX you put on your windshield.

Good luck!

Lindee - Buy any type of Scrub Free cleaner that is made for soap scum (you may need 2 bottles) - Worth every single penny! Spray the entire shower from top to bottom. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with your shower head. Your shower will be sparkling clean with NO EFFORT. (My husband always is amazed at how clean I get his shower and he thinks I slave and scrub forever to get it so clean!) If you have mildew stains, mix 1/2 bleach with 1/2 water and spray on the black spots. The mildew will disappear.

Good Luck!

Don't cave! Stay on strike!

I went on strike when my husband and son seemed to forget that their pee was supposed to make it IN the bowl - not on the sides.

We had some people over, and my husband was saying how nasty the toilet was... trying to get me to clean it. I didn't. Everybody who showed up saw how nasty he was in that particular toilet. He was emarrassed.

After they left, he cleaned the toilet and never peed on the outside of it again! :)

Stick to your guns! Don't Clean!!!

(By the way - I have to defend my husband here. He is not a dirty, nasty, pig. This just turned into "one of those things". I am sure you know what I am talking about!) :)

I love Kaboom and a magic eraser. But I've discovered there is a trick to using both of those.

I spray the Kaboom on the dry shower. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes but not till it's dry. Sprinkle just a tad bit of water on it then use your magic eraser. The soap scum will just melt away and you won't have to use any elbow grease! ;-)

Hi Lindee,
I got one too!
Get in there and do a real good scrubbing and then install a Scrubbing Bubbles automatic shower cleaner. Have him or you hit the button once and day after showers and it really helps cut down on those cleanings and smells great too!

Once you get your shower cleaned, a good way to keep the glass and tile clean is Rain-X. It is for car windows, but works great in the shower. The water beads up and rolls off. It was suggested to me by a man that does glass work.

I second Melaleuca's Tub & Tile! It's amazing, and it's not toxic like all of the others our there now so it will not harm your children in any way. It smells really good, too!

Magic Erasers (they have the Mr. Clean guy on the box)are awesome!! They will even get rid of hard water and soap scum that is built up. Make sure you get the 2 or 4 pack though, sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I would save the sponges and show your husband how dirty he is, and how much you love him because you were willing to clean it up. :)

I was not that impressed with the magic eraser, but what I do use on a regular basis is a paste of baking soda and water, along with a scrubber like you wash dishes with. My husband is an oilfield man, so you can imagine what ours can look like at times. The baking soda will scour without chemicals to make anybody sick, and will make your faucett and other metal parts look wonderful.

Have a Great Day!

I also use Melaleuca's "Tub & Tile"... it's the best I've ever used. You might keep it in mind for the future. And just fyi, be very careful to keep the magic erasers away from children. They can cause horrible chemical burns if rubbed on the skin. I'm not sure about the inhalation effects of that product.

Best wishes ~S.

I have found the best way to clean a glass door shower is with Bounce dryer sheets - I know that it sounds crazy but they work like a charm. Good luck - also if you get gray areas where your tub has texture and you can't get rid of it without breaking your arms doing it - try "The Works Tub and Shower cleaner". You just spray it on - leave for 10-15 minutes come back and wipe it clean! No more nasty gray on the textured parts of the tub!

C-L-R is GREAT for cleaning glass standing showers.
I recommend buying the concentrate (which you can get at Target, Walmart and most grocery stores) and mixing your own solution in a squirt bottle.

Tips:
You will need:
mask (smell is strong)
squirt bottle
CLR solution mixed according to directions
sponge with no scratch scouring side
toothbrush
cup to rinse with (unless your shower has removeable head)

Stand in shower and squirt all walls and glass doors with generous amounts of CLR Solution.
Let stand for 30 seconds.
Beginning from tops of shower walls or glass door, start scrubbing with scouring side in circular motion until all wall surfaces have been scrubbed. All mildew and soap scum should come off easily.
With toothbrush, scrub nooks and crannies where "gunk" accumulates.
Rinse with warm water.

I swear by this stuff! It's awesome!
Good luck!

The absolute best thing I have found for tub and shower is Kaboom. IT IS FANTASTIC!!! Hardly any work needed. You can find it at Walmart or even the grocery store for about $5 a bottle.

I had to giggle when I saw your post - what is it about men and their inability to clean bathrooms?? LOL. Anyway just wanted to say that I second the person who posted below about Bounce fabric softener dryer sheets being a great easy way to clean spotted shower glass. I heard about this from a friend last year and I've been amazed by how great it works. Just rub the dryer sheets in circular motion around the the glass and then use your regular glass cleaner to wipe it clean. I think it helps with the build up longer term as well. We also use a squeegy on the glass after each shower but inevitably you eventually have to clean some of the hard water stains from time to time to get it really looking clean.

Depending on how nasty the rest of the tile part of the shower is I'd be tempted to soak it all in bleach, but the other moms had some great suggestions. I may have to give the Kaboom that several raved about a try myself.

Hi Lindee, I have the perfect solution for your problem shower! I just had the same problem, but not anymore! I bought "Scrub Free mildew stain remover". All you do is spray every inch of the shower, walk away for a couple of minutes, & when you come back, it's sparkling clean! It has alot of bleach in it, so watch your clothes. I use it in my kitchen sink as well. No matter how many stains are in there, in just a second, my porcelain sink looks brand spanking new! I also just got this really cool tool to help w/ the tub or shower. I can't remeber the brand name, but it has a chrome colored extention wand on it that adjusts in length, w/a refillable scouring pad on the end. The pad is shaped like the plate of an iron. It's blue & the handle is blue. It is an awesome tool. It really gets in the corners & it saves your back! I think I got 'em both at Wal-Mart. By the way, the Scrub-Free is in a large white plastic bottle w/a green spray pump. Hope this helps! S.

I have used the Easy Off Bam (I think) for showers and it works well. I am also a HUGE fan of the Magic Eraser and if it is really bad, an SOS or Brillo pad will work, you just have to make sure you have a non-scratch surface.
