Hi everyone!
My daughter is in Kindergarten and I am the co-Head Room parent for her winter party next week. We are planning to have snacks/drinks, 2 games and 2 crafts that they will be able to take home. Do you think we also need to do goody bags or something else for them to take home?
What have you done in the past? Any ideas?
Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

I think if possible, get away from the goodie bag trend! If they have crafts to take home, that seems to be enough in my opinion. I think kids get too much stuff already.

Money is tight these days but for kids, I go all out, to even the last dollar. I did sanwiches, goodie bags and baked pies for the teachers along with cards/gifts for them as well for my daughters preschool teachers/class.
Kids love a party, I liek to throw one for them any chance I get ;)

Have them make gingerbread houses that they can take home.

We did a book exchange, played hot potato with everyone (with the wrapped gifts) and then when we were finished we opened the presents and they had their gift to take home (after a little exchanging). Just try and find non gender type stories.. Hopefully this helps.

Nope! They will take home the crafts and that is enough! You will fill those bags with trinkets that will get thrown away or lost in the shuffle of the holidays. Save the $$ and enjoy the party!

I think you are fine w/ what you have. Might I suggest that a story be read? I am assuming that since it is for school you have to stay away from religious readings but you could read a story regarding winter or snow...something like that.

As a mom the 3 school age chidlren I think they get too much candy. My kids come home and they want to fight over each others candy. They get too much and I find pieces lying around. I say go heavier with crafts.

Oh and I forgot to add please stay away from dollar store cheap toys. Stick with a small treat and a few crafty things they can bring home

Some of the parents (that are not room moms) send in goody bags. Sometimes we have to pack their little school bags because a few moms send them. I would not worry about them if you have a craft.

No need for goody bags...they will be so sugared up...and the crafts will be great for taking home. A goody bag will just be filled with stuff mom and dad will end up throwing away with all the other Christmas crud. Save the money...they will never notice the difference...or spend it on a Santa Hat (they could decorate on their own) or Reindeer Antlers (which would make a great class photo).
