I would opt for raw shea butter or coconut oil over vaseline any day hands down. I also powder my babies down there. It seems to help keep them from sticking so much. My son was partial to Baby Gold Bond.
my son is 8months old and was circumsized in the hospital, he was ringed. and i have noitced he has a lot of skin left and it keeps stickng to the head of his thang, and the dr has to keep pulling it back and that makes it red and it hurts him, i think its called penile adhesion , and i was wondering should i talk to my dr about having him re circumsized or just wait?, he at first said it would heal its self but i would keep having to pull the skin back until he is 3-4yrs old and using vaseline and i am worried because i cant seem to pull the skin apart myself..anyone else have this problem?...sorry for any misspells spell check doesnt work..

This happened to our son. Peel the skin back during bath time when the skin is still soft and pliable and put the vaseline on it right afterwards. Keep it peeled down and with the vaseline throughout the day. There shouldn't be a need to recircumsize. Ask the Dr if he/she recommends any other type of ointment.
I agree with the other posters. Be proactive after the bath everyday. And, yes, he'll grow into it!
Dawn
My boys grew into theirs, never needed a do over.
Pretty much when they are out of diapers it doesn't need attention anymore.
I am sure you don't need to re-circumcise.
I would call the doctor to be sure all will be well.
Also, I would constantly be applying the vaseline to keep it moist right now. Moist enough to heal and not stick. We used some kind of ointment. Can't remember what it was called. I would ask your doctor if there is a better ointment to use.
We had one doctor say to pull the skin back and it just seemed painful and not good to be doing. It made it red and just didn't seem 'right' to be having to do this all the time. This was for a grandson and I babysat him. So his mother took him to another doctor who said never pull that back or mess with it that they will get erections on their own and that pulls it back. It did regardless of how it sounds. It worked and he had less problems then than if we'd kept messing with it. He's fine and so I would get another opinion if you want but if it was me I'd leave it alone and just be sure he is kept clean.
I would get a two opinions from uroligist surgeons. My son had to be recircumsized at 3 for adhesions and skin bridging. I won't lie it was a horrible ordeal. But done and over we did move on. I have no idea if it would have been better at one or three years of age.
For us the big problem was the bridging not so much the adhesion. But you need to make sure it does not bridge (skin fused over the ridge created, well what looks like a bridge).
Always, always, always get a 2nd opinion when dealing with issues such as this.
For what it's worth, I think he will be fine. We have all had to peel back the skin..it is uncomfortable for us and worrisome that we are doing it correctly (well, it was for me at least) but it should be OK.
Get a 2nd opinion. It will help ease your mind!
~Dealing with all things 'circumcision' was THE WORST PART of having all my boys! Ugh! Sheesh..talk about stress!!
our son has this and he is four and a half. his business shrinks up. sorry for tmi but it does not seem to be a circumsize issue but just a boy issue. i hate it and it does become painful for him. we go to the doctor to fix it. he gets washed every day. i will start putting vaseline every day because i was not aware that is what we were suppose to be doing. it was just something we did when it got irritated.
At least two of my sons had this happen. If we noticed it sticking we would make sure to pull it back and then put some neosporin on it. No one ever suggested redoing their circumcision.
My middle son had this issue. It wasn't as bad as your little one's seems to be, though, it healed on its own.
How often do you try to peel the skin back? Do you do it every time you change his diaper? I would. And lube it up. Don't be conservative!
If you are really concerned, you could go see a urologist.
