We had our 2 year old's circumcion revised a month ago. He has bumps from where the sutures were placed and we do not know if this is normal. The urologist said it will smooth out in time but we want to know if anyone else out there has gone through the same issues and what your outcome has been.

What can I do next?

What the heck is the big deal? I am not trying to make light it is just so what if he ends up with bumps for the rest of his life?

My husband has them and you hardly notice when he has his pants on. :p Actually there is only one way I noticed and come on, neither of us care.

Worst case, how does this in any way effect his quality of life?

Why was it revised? Even if there is bumps I would not want to mess with my poor little ones peter anymore.

Like Laura, I would assume they'd smooth out. I've had 3 c-sections, and each time the suture area was bumpy for several weeks, but now is perfectly smooth.

I assume that those sutures would be just like any other. Bumpy and then smoothing out over time.
I have had MANY stitches taken out and they are bumpy and then smooth.

Welcome to mamapedia, W.!!!

Sorry - didn't have a problem with my two boy's circumcision.

However, I have had surgery that required sutures and they dissolved eventually and smoothed out.

Personally? I wouldn't worry about it. As long as it is not causing him to not be able to urinate or anything like that? I would let it go.....

good luck!!

My son's was revised at 2 yrs....I don't remember if there were any bumps, but its smooth now! Were his stitches self dissolving or did they have to be removed...don't know if that would make a difference. My son's just dissolved on their own.

I had stitches on my hands recently and it was bumpy when removed, but perfectly smooth a month out. I'd give it another month or so, and see if you see any improvement, if not it doesnt hurt to ask for a 2nd opinion.

Did the doctor tell you to put anything on it? I would at least use vaseline, unless the doctor gave you something else.
