How about a Flip video camera? They recently came out with a new version that I saw at Staples for $199, but the older version is $149. It is very small and cool looking. I'm getting one for my son for Christmas.
I am wanting to know if anyone has any ideas oh what to get a 11 yr old girl thats going on 16? My daughter is 11 and very hard to buy for she seems to be into everything the teenagers are and when given gift cards she seems to waste it on just junk and junk food for her and her friends. are there any moms out there in the same boat or ideas.
Thank you all for the wonderful Ideas!! she is into reading magiazines and books, cameras, nails, shopping and girly stuff. looks like i have a pretty good list to workn on. sometimes as a mom our brain stops. LOL!!!

For my 13 y/o daughter we are getting her an iPod Nano. She loves listening to music. Her favorite book series is 39 clues books so we'll get her the rest of the series. Does your daughter have her own camera? If not maybe she would like that. My daughter doesn't have her own but she likes to take mine to school, sports, etc and take pictures of all her friends.
That's all I've got. My daughter is not into make-up or fashion stuff yet so she is still pretty easy to buy for. She even wants a Mad Scientist kit. =-)
Books?
Magazine subscriptions?
A journal?
Gift card to the movies, museum, or for a day @ the theater?
Gift card to a nice restaurant in the area?
At this age they want to be treated like a grown up, even though they're not & sometimes if you do things like the above... they see it as being treated like an adult.
does she have an mp3 player? clothes..my 10 yr old loves to shop at Justice in the mall..,what about a gift card to go get a manicure and pedicure, or get her hair done? or even a massage? presents dont always have to be something they can physically hold.
Does she play around with electronics at all? My daughter is only 9, but she and her 12 yr old brother BOTH love to make short videos (on their digital cameras) of themselves acting out little skits with their toys. Then they load them onto their computer, or hook it up to the Wii and watch. And play around with the effects. They have a great time! Some of them are pretty creative too!
My daughter just had one on tonight where she was doing a skit with Bionicle creatures.. My son did one a few weeks ago where he videoed himself (he narrated of course) explaining an obstacle course he had made up and what was supposed to happen when he dropped the little bouncy ball. It didn't work like he planned... but it was the funniest thing I have ever seen!
Kids her age LOVE that sort of stuff. And even if YOU are electronically "challenged", she will figure it out without using the manual. lol
Definitely go to Justice. Anything you get there, she will love.
What are her likes and interest???
Does she like to read - books, magazine subscription,
Does she have an ipod - an itunes gift card or pay for her to download some music
Is she into fashion and enjoy shopping - take her on a shopping spree for a new outfit
Does she do her nails? - a manicure kit, nail polish - or treat her to a manicure
a camera
Movie tickets - although she'll probably want to treat her friends
Tickets to an event (play, concert, etc)
Does she like jewelry - a necklace, earings, a ring
Consider a sewing machine and lessons. It's a gift that she enjoy forever. Do get a real machi-e amd not a kiddie. Kenmore makes one with speed control... tremendous machine to learn on.
