My husband is very tough to find a present for this Christmas because he recently got things for his birthday (ipad etc.) that he had wanted. He's a real "techno geek". He loves computers, his new Ipad, video games for his wii. But I would like to get him something good. Not just new slippers or a video game. Anyone out there have any ideas or even something creative? For the first time I absolutely have no idea what to get him for Christmas. Help! Help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the great ideas! You've all provided me with a lot of possibilities. Most of which I haven't even thought of and also didn't know about. I'm definately going to get him one of the items without even looking much yet, and that would be the night vision goggles. I really appreciate the help. thanks again and good luck to you all at Christmastime!

Last year, I got my husband a custom-made bobble head doll. It looks just like him, and he loves it! He has it at work and it's become a "person" by itself that attends meetings and is used for jokes. If you're interested, let me know and I can give you the company I used....

This might not be what you are looking for, but my husband and I don't exchange gifts at Christmas anymore, at least not traditional gifts. Each year we plan a long weekend away and leave our son with family. We just tend to buy what we want throughout the year and after the craziness of the holidays it's really nice to get away for a weekend in January just the two of us, so we spend the money on that instead.

For all tech heads, go to thinkgeek.com or brookstone.com ... even if you're unsure of what to get, a customer service rep can steer you in the right direction. A year or so ago, one of my girlfriends bought her tech head hubby a 'rocket' you can place anywhere in your house, and control it from the computer... it's so simple and silly, but FUN! He shoots the kids when they think he's not around (it has a tiny camera on it). This year, she bought him a breathalizer, $50 from Brookstone... and that's just funny.

Does he have a Kindle? I think it's for downloadable books.

Is he also tool minded? Anything from Lowe's, HomeDepot?

I think I would go to Best Buy or a similar store and see what is out there. I usually go to Lowes as mine is a tool junkie, and I just look to see what he doesn't have yet.

My husband is a clothes horse and takes a great deal of pride in his appearance. So, I usually take advantage of Christmas sales to restock items like slacks, ties, dress socks, etc. My husband loves everything to coordinate (as do I) so I have a lot of fun putting together combinations for him.

Also usually buy him things like tie clips, cuff links, collar stays at Christmas because there are more available at that time of year. Again...don't know if your husband needs to or likes to dress up for work...?

I always try to sneak in fun, kid kind of gifts too. My husband loves superheros and the Simpsons. I usually go for corny character boxer shorts, a special tree ornament with a character he likes, or something funny to put on his desk. Movies are always cheap at Christmas too, so if there's something he really likes that you don't own already.

Both of us like to give lots of little gifts that all kind of go together instead of one huge gift. That makes it more fun, more to open and requires more creativity.

Hi J.,

A bicycle and helmet, walking shoes, ... to get him off his butt. His health is the most important gift.

Happy Holidays,

I usually go to lowes and pick something up but he is also a "techno geek" but with all things that usually need fixing between the house, cars, and his large toys he doesn't really get the time to enjoy the technology things. If he is a Mr. Fix it too I'd go look around lowes or for the technology stuff I'd go look around Best Buy and speak to someone there they should be able to offer you a little insight on what might be a good buy.

My husband is the same way...he normally gets some kind of technology gift. This year, however, he is getting a good chunk of the funds to start working on his "man cave." lol - he wants the basement to be decorated in Redskins, so the we are either going to get him things or a gift card to Lowes.

Geeky mom - I bought myself a terabyte simple share hard drive. I can hook it up to my computer (actually it is networked) and it is like a large spare drive where I can keep all my photos, videos, and other large files so my laptop does not get bogged down. It is not so romantic, but geeks find love in strange places.
How about a nice ipad case - maybe something that can be monogrammed? or other ipad accessories (wireless keyboard, docking station, ...).
Lastly, as other moms said, try ThinkGeek or X-treme Geek for a wide variety of items.

I think your husband is my husband's long lost relative!!! LOL I totally agree with the thinkgeek website, too. My husband gets their little catalog and loves all the goofy stuff in it. =0) Does your hubby get the Wired magazine? If not, maybe a subscription to that would at least make a good little stocking stuffer for him. My husband LOVES that magazine. As for a main gift........I'm not so sure, as I'm kinda lost for my husband, too! =0)

The post that suggested Think geek is a great idea. They have very cool night vision goggles that we got for our 17 yr old daughter (she asked for them) and my husband can't keep his hands off of them. LOL! They have so many cool Tech savy things on there and pretty cool T shirts too. I know that you can find something there. Also, my hubby is a real mr fix it tech kind of "geek" kind of guy, and he recently got into these remote control cars that you can build yourself. You buy the car either made or a kit and make it yourself. They are really really fast, like over 40 mph, and the best part is if anythiing breaks it usually only costs 5 to 10 bucks for the part to fix it. I think the one he started with is the slash model. They are a bit pricey, like 300 bucks to start. You can also buy different bodies to go on them, or clear ones to paint yourself too. My husband likes to do that too. It's something that he has the whole neighborhood doing now, so they all race them and go down to the hobby shop to race too. It does give them some excersize, because when they flip the cars, they have to go walk to wherever the car is to flip it back over to drive it again. He even has our 9 yr old son doing it with him too, so bonus father son time! If that is too much money, I would check out the thinkgeek.com website for sure! Awesome website!!! Good luck!
