I'm in the same boat, but my decor is in the attic. I'm thinking about having my hubby bring everything down but only putting up the winter related stuff (snowman and snow flakes) and then doing everything else the week of Thanksgiving.
I know the "norm" is to decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving but does anyone do it earlier?? As I am digging into our storage space to put away Halloween (which is through a closet and a pain to get to) it is very tempting to just pull out all the xmas stuff and start putting it out. Hmmmmmm...

We're lucky if we put the tree up Xmas Eve LOL
I have to be honest, I am so tired of seeing all the Xmas stuff creaping into stores and other places earlier and earlier each year that I wait as long as I can to put them up in my own home because I'm already tired of seeing them. I know..sound like the Grinch. But I start seeing things up in September and it's just too much for me.
The earliest we ever put anything up is early Dec.
There was Christmas music playing yesterday on some radio stations. As soon as Halloween is over, I can't help but think it's Christmas time. Our tree will be up before Thanksgiving. Usually the weekend before. I can't help myself, it's all so fun when you have small children. Not to mention that every store has all the trees up and sparkling.....it's all so tempting!
I refuse to do it until after Thanksgiving, I feel like it takes credit away from Thanksgiving... BUT I usually put them up very soon after. I'm also the grinch who takes everything down the day AFTER Christmas because I get tired of dealing with it for so long ;)
This year, the kids are giving me a really hard time and want the Christmas stuff out. Since I'm already Christmas shopping, it's really hard not to!
It is always my goal every year to get it set up the week before Thanksgiving.
That way I can rest and relax after Thanksgiving...which is anything but restful and relaxing w/ our families.
Alas...it never happens and I always want to kick my own butt.
I have tons of decorations and 2 trees so it is a LOT of work.
And I love it!
I say go for it!
I have a toddler (Conan the Destroyer!) this year...so if I started now...I bet I could be done by Thanksgiving. Ugh!
I hate that aspect of it!
Have fun!!! ;)
I LOVE decorating for Halloween and Christmas! It might be a little too early though for Christmas stuff.... I do it the weekend after Thanksgiving.. :0)
I've done it before but then I'm so sick of Christmas before the "holiday" has even begun. =D
Good morning Jamie, I think it's a personal choice, There's no wrong or rightn time. We used to decorate Dec. 1 when our children were little, now we do it the weekend after Thanksgiving. My reason for doing it early is becase we have a lot decoratons, and it's a lot of work putting everthing up (Fun Work) so we like to enjoy it for a while. J.

You certainly "can" if you want to!
As for me? I refuse. I will not put out a single Christmas decoration until the day after Thanksgiving. My Halloween stuff was all away yesterday and I really don't "decorate" for Thanksgiving...
My goal is always a top-to-bottom clean house before decorating.
This usually morphs into a "reasonably clear area"
followed by "if I don't NOW, I never will!"
.
Last year I was so busy at work, "Santa" trimmed our tree for us after my daughter went to bed.
I bought some outside lights at Target when I went to get the discount Halloween stuff!! I can't WAIT to put it up! I am going to, because it's just too early for me and I know I get sick of it by the time Christmas rolls around, but I may have my hubby drag the boxes out so we can be decorated for Thanksgiving. I'll be home with the kids the day before so it might be fun to decorate and prepare the meal for the next day :).
Do it! I dare you :)
aaaw, let Thanksgiving have it's place in the sun for the next 4 weeks :)
Yea I love decorating for Christmas, but I wait until the day after Thanksgiving and I take them down January 1st.
I get out my holiday coffee mugs and CDs early November each year but we've never had the tree up until after Thanksgiving.
It's still warm in TX until end of November, so that helps! :)
I have a friend who does it, because he loves Christmas. I wait until after Thanksgiving. Anticipation of all kinds is one of the best parts of Christmas. Designating a special time seems to make it more special and not just part of the norm. I am always disappointed to see the Christmas decoration up in the stores at Halloween time. I have been known to pull the difficult to get to boxes out of our attic and stack them in the garage when I put up Halloween stuff. But I refrain from the decorating.
