Chiropractic or Craniosacral Therapy for Fluid in Ears

My son (age 5) has a lifelong history of ear infections and fluid in his ears. He had tubes when he was an infant, which helped until age 2 (when they came out). We recently discovered that he hears 50% out of 1 ear (the other is fine), and has enlarged adenoids. The traditional route is surgery to have tubes placed again and remove the adenoids.

I am interested in hearing from anyone with experience resolving these kind of ear issues via chiropractic and/or craniosacral therapy. I'd love to hear how long the course of treatment took (weeks, months, years?), the frequency of visits to the practitioner, and how effective it was. We live abroad now and found a practitioner, but it is SO expensive. Yet if it is effective, then we are willing to invest.

Thanks so much for your advice and input!

So What Happened?

AMAZING - after 2 months of treatment by the chiropracter my son had another hearing test. The ear that had 50% hearing is now in the norm!!! I highly recommend giving cranio-sacral therapy a try before surgery. The ENT was pretty shocked by the results, and I happily cancelled the scheduled surgery.

Our son had a hard time hearing, and one visit to the chiropracter took care of it for us. He had some issues with his neck's alignment, and because he was so young (3 years old), he adjusted really easily.

My cousin's oldest son had this same problem. He too had tubes put in, but continued to get infections. Eventually, they wanted to do the T and A surgery and they decided to try chiropractic. It worked! It has been a long time (he was three then, and just turned 14) but if I remember correctly they took him 2-3 times a week for a couple of weeks, then worked down to once a week, and then every other, until eventually they were able to stop. His ears have been fine ever since.
On a side note, I knew a woman whose son had repeated ear infections and her chiropractor noticed a slight leg length descrepancy. He put a small lift in his shoe and that fixed it! My guess is the imbalance over time caused the inner ear fluid to shift which caused the infections? IDK.
Anyway, good luck and I hope you are sucessful! I am a huge fan of alternative therapies, and believe if they are carried out appropriately they can work wonders!

I always have a hard time getting my ears to clear when I fly and felt like I have fluid in my ears. When i started seeing a chiropractor for a different issue, they had me start doing some neck exercise and my hearing problem went away! I was so excited. when they took x-rays of my spine, it was evident that my eustachian tubes were in the wrong alignment. I continue to do the neck exercises whenever i sense my hearing is impaired.

Not the same situation but I can vouch for good success when i have had my chiropractor open my ears for fluid in them. I'd feel like i was about to get a full blown sinus problem, cold or worse and boom, fixed. I think it's a best kept secret.

I took the surgical route with my daughters. My oldest daughter has had the surgery twice (adenoids grew back). I am such a fan of the immediate results from the surgery, that I hadn't ever thought to go the chiropractic route... but if you do, would you please let us know how it works for you?

I work for a chiropractor and I've seen it take between 1-20 visits depending on the kid. And one it didn't work for at all. My kid was the one visit and done, maybe because she had already been getting adjusted since birth?
