Children's Stinky Feet/shoes!

My children (ages 4 and 5) have very smelly feet in the summertime. They are particularly stinky with a pair of sandals that have a liner which gets dirty quickly. I wash the shoes in the washer once a week and wash their feet each night with Dial soap. Does anyone have any other suggestions for dealing with this?

Heard on Oprah (Dr. Oz) if you soak stinky feet in tea, that kills the bacteria. Haven't had to try it, but seemed to help on the show. Google search it and the article should pop up.

I just heard something new. Crumple up some newspaper and stuff it into each shoe. Leave it there overnight and check them in the morning. If they're really bad, leave it in for several days. Also, try Goldbond powder on their feet. Good Luck!

maybe the problem is the liner in the sandals... buy some without a liner.. I'm not sure what kind of liner you are talking about but Oprah and Dr. Oz had this discussion once. The good Doc said that feet stink because they are hot in socks and they sweat. He said if we didn't wear socks, our feet wouldn't stink. So do what you can to keep those babies' feet dry.. powders, sprays and no more sandal liners! good luck

You could sprinkle some corn starch or actual foot powder in their shoes as well as on their feet before they put their shoes on. When they take them off, sprinkle a little bit in their shoes overnight to keep the smell down. Just a thought.

my child's feet aren't too bad but i have noticed that as much as i loved the keens that the smell was awful. she did best with leather soles and open toes and the best of all are crocs. they are not appropriate everywhere because they are not as easy to run or climb in but they come in many different styles and colors so my daughter spends about half the summer in them. plus they are so easy to clean when she goes walking in the mud.
