Martin Wilson in Paoli is very good. He used to be at CHOP and is now in private practice. Good luck.
Hello All!
I am in search of a good Opthamologist for my 11 month old son. I went to one last week under the direction of his Pediatrician, however I felt that this particular doctor was very quick to jump to surgery for a slightly droopy eyelid. He was also very quick to tell me that my insurance would cover it and kids would possibly make fun of my son later in school. I am looking for a good Opthamologist for my son to get a second opinion. I am in Bryn Mawr but will travel a bit if i have to. Please let me know if you know anyone!
Thanks so much!

If you have a children's hospital in your area, I'd call there. Or, call the NICU at your local hospital and ask who they use. We use the same doctor that our NICU used. We really love him ( but we live in Utah--sorry!).
good luck!
You want to see Dr. James Katowitz at CHOP. He is the best. My daughter didn't even have a serious eye problem. She only had clogged tear ducts but he was so gentle with her. I really can't say enough about him and his practice.
He is so good that an attorney I used to work for only went to him even though Dr. Katowitz only works on children. Definitely get an appt with him.
Dr. Leonard Nelson is awesome and specializes in pediatric ophthamology. He is my son's doctor and he's been great. You should not ignore a droopy eyelid because it in some cases it could cause vision loss in that eye - a condition called amblyopia. Nelson's number is ###-###-####. His office is located in Bala Cynwyd. I know there are a number of other great peds ophthamologists at CHOP as well. Good luck.
