Last year my son fell out of a second floor window. As a part of my healing, I'm telling the story and my learnings. Please feel free to re-post, re-tweet, etc

I read your blog. Thank you for posting this. We have a one story house, so windows are not an issue for us, but the advice you offered about dealing with an emergency was extremely valuable! It's something I wouldn't have thought about before, but I won't forget now. Thanks so much. I am glad this story has a happy ending. Now I have to go kiss my babies and be grateful!
Thank you.

Your a blessing for sharing your story. I will forward to everyone I know that has small children and a second floor. My kids are a little older now but when they were young I remember always thinking they were "safe" with the screens on the windows in the second floor gameroom. Man do I feel lucky! Your story will save others and please take comfort in that.

Thanks for sharing your story! This is so timely because I am a claims adjuster and just had to deny a Homeowners claim for a small boy who fell from the 2nd story window. He was on a table and tried to close the window when he fell out. The denial is because he lived in the home (a resident can not file a medical claim on their own HO policy). Even though it was a standard denial, I feel bad for the little boy. He suffered a broken pelvis and seems to be fine now, not extensive follow-up. Unfortunately, that is the case for everyone.

L., thank you for sharing your story. This has always been a great concern for me. About 14 years ago, a close friend's 2 year old daughter did that same thing. I wasn't there at the time but was told that she was standing on the cough, leaning on the screen when all of a sudden it gave way and she fell out their 2nd story window. Thankfully she landed on a bush and got nothing more then a few scratches. We lived in a 2 story house when our daugther was born and 4 years later I still won't let my husband open any upstairs windows. I'm so perinoid about one of our chilren falling out a window. I didn't realize there were things on the market to secure screens but I will definitely look into it now that you mentioned it.

Thank you again for sharing your and Jackson's story and I'm so glad to hear he growing into a beautiful, healthy little boy.

God Bless,
J.
