Well I dont qualify for Headstart or CCDS.....so I'm looking for some way my lonely 3 yr old daughter can interact with other children. She is an only child and we dont have family here or friends either. I know its so sad bc children need to socialize with ppl there own age. I just feel like she's deprived of peers and it may affect her later when she really has to go to school. So what do any of you have to suggest?

What can I do next?

I am in the same boat. My son is three years old and an only child. My husband is in the military and is gone all the time. We just moved here about two months ago and I dont know anyone. I am trying to find other moms to start a playgroup. If you are interested email me at ____@____.com. Maybe we can get the ball rolling.

My youngest son attends a headstart program on the NE side of SA. Find a headstart school close to you and drop in at the schools office. That's how I got my son in. It's easier to get you child into a program like that in the begining of the school year because those types of schools have a quota that have to feel. Hope this helps.

HI there V.,

Well this is the right place to start. I made a few friends here on Mama source. I moved here about a year and a half ago from San Diego ca and I love it here. I had to find things to do on my own because my husband is always away from home for work. I take them to the childrens museum, the zoo, they have a toddler play area there where kids interact. The YMCA had sports for her age, put her in dance etc. Pick up the SAn ANtonio kids magazine from HEB, Borders book store etc. It is free and has many things for kids. Or meet new moms who have kids also. My boys are 2&3 and we have met new neighbors with kids etc. I am not sure if that has helped much. But good luck. You can also take her to a near by park to play on the swings,

You just need to find or even organize a play group in your area. Start going to the park or pool and meet people. You will find others with children your daughters age. Story time at the library is always a good place to start too. Or even a local MDO program mostly are at churches but they might know of a play group for you to get involved with.

Hope this helps, C.
