We had one that went on the back like the one you tried, but we know someone who has a child bike seat that fit in front of the parent (close to handlebars). I don't know the brand. I wonder if that would work?
i have a beach cruiser with a rear rack that is not removable. i am looking for a rear child seat that will fit on this bike. i have already tried the bell cocoon 300 and a copilot with no luck. i really do not want a trailer. any ideas on what seat would fit.
My daughter is 11 months old. i just got this bike so if possible i want to keep it.

Your best bet is probably to physically take the bike to a bike shop and ask them to look at it and recommend a seat.
You could try calling bike shops. You never know, they might be able to help you out over the phone. But if they aren't able to without looking at it, they probably could help you if you bring it to them.
In addition to fitting on your bike, the seat also has to suit the child's size. It would be best to take both the bike and the kid to a bicycle shop to test seats.
With the rack limiting your options, you may have to get a different bike if you want to avoid a trailer. If your child is not an infant/todder and can sit upright on a regular seat, there is also the Wee Ride Co-Pilot or LL Bean Trail-a-Bike option to turn your bike into a tandem.
How old is your child?
