Did she not have the varicella vaccine, and has she been exposed to someone with chicken pox? I guess those are the first questions you should answer.

Whatever it is, as long as she doesn't have a high fever or any other warning signs or symptoms of something more serious, you can just call the doctor in the morning.

It's probably more likely that it's just a skin irritation. Hope she feels better soon!

You do not need to go to the emergency room.

Call your pedi's call service in the morning and ask them what they suggest. In the mean time, try to keep her from scratching. I even put socks on our daughters hands to help her remember,

If she does not have a fever, just have her rest. again.. no scratching.. That can spread it,

Scratching will NOT spread the chicken pox. However scratching the pox will leave scars. The best thing you can do is put caladryl lotion on them and give her lots of fluids and basic meals like soup, scambles eggs, pudding, remember the pox can form in the mouth and throat.

It could also be a form of the measels. There are 5 types of measels and we only vacinate for 2 of them. Measels itch also.

It could also be hives. If it's hives give her benedryl liquid and let her sleep it off. They can last for days and up to 2 weeks. I have been through hives as a kid and with one of my kids and 2 grandchildren. It's one of those things that frustrates the daylights out of you because the only thing that works is benedryl and maybe an ice pack for the swelling. Hives can form in the mouth and throat and then becomes anaphlactic shock.

They look like pimples then they crust over. They normally start on the trunk. It's not an emergency room type illness we all survived. Call her ped on Monday to get a diagnosis.

E., chicken pox is not an emergency and does not warrant a trip the ER. The ER is for urgent cases where immediate treatment is needed. A phone call to your child's pediatrician is sufficient. Call as soon as they are opened. Was she vaccinated? Once I thought my daughter had it, but it turned out to be poison ivy

No need for an ER visit just call the ped, for an appointment.

No, don't go to the ER. Especially if it's Chicken Pox. There is not much they can do for her and to be truthful, they really do not want her there. Get some calamine lotion and cotton balls to apply it. And give her Benedryl to help stop the itching. And wait it out. It usually takes about 2 weeks before the "pimples" are gone.

Try to get her to NOT scratch or rub the "pimples". They can leave terrible scars. If they itch, and they will, patting (or lightly slapping) usually helps.
