Hydrocortisone ointment works when nothing else does. It stops the inflammation and rash and then we go back to normal lip products. All my sons are lip lickers and sometimes forget to put chapstick on, and you guessed it the red ring around the mouth and lips. Just don't lick if you can help it, it won't hurt you to lick, but it tastes horrible! Helps them to stop licking. I find the ointment at HEB their generic brand. Cream will work but doesn't seem to coat the skin as well or as long and feels weird compared to the ointment. Hydrocortisone isn't supposed to be used on the face for a prolonged period of time, so just a little bit for a few days to tamp down the inflammation should do the trick.
Good luck,
L.
