Changing Stations in Public Places

I was a restauant manager for a while before i became a mommy and those things are NASTY!!!! employees NEVER clean them even when they are supposed to, and no they are not mandatory, just a *bonus but i will never use them unless i have too so keep sanitary wipes avail to clean b4and after

I used my car. Or a counter. Or a planter box. Or a public bench. Or my knee. Or the grass. Or the chair next to me. Wet diapers only take 2 seconds, so wherever... dirty diapers got privacy.

Even if one might assume they were clean... the plastic fold down clamshell things... I just always imagined strapping my son onto it and having it collapse. I've seen 20lb toddlers beak them hanging off of them... and my son was WELL over 20lbs at only 6 mo.

I am not 100% sure...but I would say they are not a requirement. Those are just a benefit for parents in family friendly environments.

We went to the brand new billion dollar cowboy stadium a few weeks ago (for a non-cowboys related event). My daughter brought along my grandson. I took him in to the bathroom to change him and guess what? Jerry World doesn't have changing stations! Couldn't believe it!

I don't think they are required. I went to Wal-Mart when my youngest son was about 3 months old and he needed changed and they did not have one, I had to change him on the floor! I was so upset. It was a poopy diaper and he already had a rash that he was going to the dermatologist for or else I would have waited to change him. I haven't been to Wal-Mart since!

I don't think that they are mandatory, but I honestly never use them unless I have to! I really don't think they ever get cleaned, and the few times I have used them with my three kids I have layered them with hand towels before laying my child on them. If I have to I change my little ones on my lap until they are walking or standing up. That is if I don't have a stroller or easy access to the car. Just some thoughts.

I agree with LaTrina - public places put changing stations in their restrooms to create a positive environment for customers. I usually keep a disposable changing pad (like you use when house-training a puppy!) in the diaper bag so I can keep the kid off the floor of the stall (or to protect the changing surface from icky poos). I also keep a tiny bottle of Bath and Body Works antibacterial gel in the diaper bag and in my purse, so I can clean all our hands in situations like that.

Besides, I figure it improves their immune system to have reasonably frequent exposures to germs. ;-)

Not required, but should be!

I usually drop down the back of the stroller and change diapers in there. If that's not an option, the backseat of the car!

I went to a couple places that didn't have them. Then I found out that they were in the handicap stall! LOL, I felt dumb. I don't believe they are a requirement. Every place I have worked was hit or miss if they hand one.
This sounds so weird but I used to change my baby in the trunk of my car. It was a great height, didn't have to worry about crashing my door into another car, and it had a great light. Of course now that she is older and bigger I just do it standing up. My boyfriend still laughs at me that I changed her in the trunk. =)..whatever it worked. lol

they are not a requirement - I went to a large hospital last week - no changing tables!
I usually raise the trunk lid, put a towel down and change the baby in the trunk!
