We already know that it's never totally going away, and even the skinniest people can get it!! And we know there's no 'miracle cream' that's making it go away either...

So how the hell can I TRY to get rid of this cellulite?! It's gotten a lot worse the last year... what causes it? What can I be doing different? Is there ANY proven way to make it look a little better??

What can I do next?

OOhhh man!! I wish I was more awake!!! there was a study on cellulite...let me look it up...I think i need ot go back to bed first - vertigo is not doing well today!!!

I was told by a personal trainer the only way to make it "look better" was to gain more muscle so it wouldn't have much of a place to hide...

i'll get back to you later today - deal?

When I gain weight I get it on my legs. You know, when you sit down and your thighs are all smashed. Total cellulite. But, cardio has really helped it. Once my legs get muscular it goes away. I would think it could be the same way for the butt. There is actually a machine at my gym for your butt. I was actually trying to make my butt bigger, but holy cow, it makes your butt hurt for days!!

Its basically squats with huge weights on your shoulders.

A few years ago I had this procedure done, it was like 2000 dollars (at the most) what it does is it uses ultrasonic waves and basically the way cellulite forms (what they told me) is that it's fat between either muscles or ligaments or whatever you have that fibrous and skinny people can get it because the muscle stuff bunches the fat cells instead of letting them even out. So this machine basically sends ultrasounds to the underlying tissue and smoothes everything out.. you don't loose the fat but it doesn't dimple up anymore. I saw pretty quick results and then I got pregnant (I know, right) but even after baby and now pregnant with #2 it still hasn't gotten bad so it's a semi-permanent fix especially if you don't gain a ton of weight. Once I loose my baby weight again I may go in for a touch up but I was REALLY happy with the results. I even saw pics of people that were REALLY overweight getting it done and it still smoothing things out. Yeah, it was a little expensive but based on the fact its been like 3 years and 2 kids later it's held up pretty good!

Really, Rach, I've seen your FB pix, you are nearly physically perfect! Pshht!

But like Cheryl says, only thing that helps is muscle tone, or liposuction. Bleck!

Or maybe you can get a new tattoo on the giggly spots!

:)

(Also, I'd be willing to bet your husband LIKES the giggly spots!)

Totally massage+running on a regular basis. Trying in the meantime to not indulge with sweets and fried food, drinking LOTS of water. I think all of this should help...what do you ladies think?

Hey Ray,
The below mentioned article if from a nutritionist blog that I follow and have learned a great deal from. I have not tried the sauna deal but I do make sure I keep , Nivea Good-Bye Cellulite Smoothing Gel Cream -- on stock in the house.

Per Nutritionist Kimberly Snyder
Since I found out about the benefits of infrared saunas, I try to go as much as I can. That works out to be anywhere from once a week to once every 6 weeks, depending on how much I am traveling. Note! Do not use your cell phone in the sauna. It makes sense that the radiation would circulate in there- but it was kind of a Duh! moment for me to be conscious of it. I went in there once to send some emails from my phone, and I got a massive headache! Usually I read until I get too drippy, then meditate or chill out!

What does it do? First off, infrared saunas help remove heavy metal toxins stored in our body’s fat and connective tissues. Unlike a regular sauna, it has the ability to penetrate deep into the subcutaneous tissue to help root out these poisons. The profuse sweating helps these toxins also cleanse and eliminate out of the skin. The fact is that we ALL are exposed to chemicals and heavy metals, no matter where we live. They abound in environmental pollution, pesticides in our food, mercury in seafood (if you eat do eat seafood here’s another reason to cut back! ), chemicals in our home cleaning products and carpets, etc. The list could literally go on for dozens of pages. When our bodies are constantly assaulted by heavy metal toxins our organs, including our liver and kidneys, can become impaired. Cleansing out some of these heavy metals through an infrared sauna will help purge the toxins out of body and help all our bodies’ organs function at proper capacity.

Infrared sauna may be helpful in our quest to lose weight and that pesky cellulite! Stagnant pockets of fat can be storehouses for chemical toxins- and the more toxins accumulate in our bodies, our bodies will often create more fat to store the toxins. YIKES!! Scary but true! As we shed these chemical toxins, our fat can shrink (phew!). Cellulite is really made up of fat, acidic waste, and trapped water. The infrared sauna can help stimulate these areas- but to really target cellulite you have to also incorporate some dietary changes of course!
** Note that these benefits are unique to an infrared sauna, not a regular sauna!

But as with any sauna, the infrared sauna will also help us beautify our skin. When we sweat that much, our skin becomes deeply cleansed, and circulation will improve to the skin, creating a healthy and youthful glow.

Do some research in your area on which spas carry them. More and more health centers, spas, and colon hydrotherapy locations are starting to carry them, and they are definitely becoming more popular. Prices vary, but its around $25.oo for a session.
Happy Infrared Sauna-ing!!
