P.A.
I tried to put my baby into a Baby Bjorn one time when we were landing and the stewardess said I couldn't - that it was against safety rules!!! I've heard some people like to have a Boppy pillow with them in the seat so baby can sleep.
My family is going on a trip to Cleveland in December. My son will be sitting on our lap. I am looking for something to help us hold him. He will probably sleep the whole time because it is a red eye flight. I have a Bjorn carrier that we used with him on our last few flights, but that was a year ago and I want to have more options. I read about the Baby B-Air and was interested in that. Has anyone used it? Can my baby be cuddled in it or can they only sit on your lap while using it? Any suggestions would be grately appreciated

I use the Ultimate Baby Wrap by Parents of Invention and I love love love it and so does my son! It is a long piece of fabric that you wrap around you (takes about a minute). It comes with a dvd and it only takes a few minutes to learn how to put it on. Plus, once you have it on, you can wear your baby 5 different ways! It is super comfortable and is t-shirt material so it is soft. My son is 13 months and 25 pounds and it is so easy to carry him aound for a long time without hurting. Plus, it folds down real small and has its own bag that you can easily fit in your diaper bag. I ordered it online from Target, but you can also find it online at Babies R Us and Amazon. Plus it's only $40 so it's a great price for all it's many uses. It goes up to 35 pounds too. Good luck with your trip!
Hi J.,
When we flew to Hawaii with my one year old, I had a big carry on bag that I used as a bed for him. I had another bag inside with our stuff in in that I could take out, and left his blankets and pillow. We asked for the bulk head seats so there was space to have him down by our feet. It was great to get him of my lap for a few hours. Finding the perfect bag is the trick though, big enough for him, but not too big for airplane carry on size, so some kind of magical fold expanding bag is the way to go. Good luck, ninaya
Hi J.,
How old is your baby?
I just flew with my 10 month old and used the B'Air. It was OK. I still needed to hold her when she slept. I have flown with her before without one and it has been fine.
I don't think that I would get one. I got mine for free, but it just seemed like something extra to carry.
Good luck.

HI J.,
when my daughter was little, we flew all over the place. Even went to Phoenix when she was only a month old for New Years. We always brought along her carrier/car seat. Until we had to start paying for her ticket, we would always ask the people at the gate how full the flight was. Usually if it wasn't a full flight, they would move us around and give us the seat next to us so we could use the car seat on the plane. It made take off and landing so much easier than holding her in our laps. I felt like she was much safer that way too. She also slept through 95% of the flight which allowed my husband and I time to sleep on the flight as well.
She is almost 4 and now that we have to buy her a ticket, we still bring along her car seat. It's something she is familiar with, and makes her feel more secure.

Hi J.,
Mu=y sister in law gave us a harness made for flying and they are supposed to work really well. I let a friend borrow it and she liked it for her 15 month old.
Good Luck!!
Hi I used a baby b'air that i used of r a trip to Australia. I am going to sell it on ebay but I can sell it to you if you're interested.I thought it was good and gave us an extra layer of safety.
I didn't want to spend the money on anything special, so I just held my little man when we traveled. We did it when he was 3 months, 4 months, 6 months, and 10 months. The last trip was hard, but when he was really small I just put his head on my chest, his legs tucked underneath him while he slept and I basically had both my arms free to read or change the tunes on my MP3 player. When we got off the plane, my stroller was waiting for me so there really wasn't too much carrying involved and it wasn't as bad as you might imagine (no sleeping limbs).
But I have seen other moms using a carrier and they looked fine for the most part, but it sure looks like a pain to take it off and put it on again, which you have to do to feed or change.
Enjoy your trip!
You don't need any special equipment for flying with a baby... just your arms! If you're breastfeeding, try to feed on the way up and the way down for less ear pressure problems. Bring along a toy that he hasn't seen before. The flight to HI isn't that long, I wouldn't worry too much. We had an 11-hour flight with our 13-month-old and we had some bored times, but it really wasn't bad, and we only brought a few toys and baby foods. No big deal.
