We're going with a rib roast this year after having ham for Christmas the past, oh hundred million years in a row. I bought a giant 12 pounder last week & am so excited to cook it Sunday!!
I absolutely love both, but I'm torn on which to serve for my holiday dinner! Which one sounds better and what sides would you recommend? Thx!

My favorite dinner is always a roast with yorkshire pudding and cravy. Usually do roasted red potatoes and a green vegetatble. You can serve horseradish, blue cheese, or a flavored butter with the meat.
Rib Roast is my vote.
YUM.
I am making prime rib roast for Christmas dinner.
I am baking a ham today for us to snack on during the week.
We are so tired of chicken, turkey, and lately cannot decide what to do for dinner.
I am serving mashed potatoes with the prime rib and not posotive what else. Daughter requested a cherry pie so I bought one. We are not dessert eaters but she and her bf like it occasionally.
Merry Christmas!
I vote for the Prime Rib and green beans w/bacon! Yum! That is what we are having! :)
Rib roast. But I am biased, because that's what's on our menu. We are serving a homemade horse radish sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, rolls, asparagus and from scratch cream corn.
Rib Roast for Christmas and Ham for New Years with Blackeyed peas!
I love ham, yet before deciding on which .... I would consider leftovers. If there are 4 lbs of leftovers, do you want leftover ham or leftover roast? Which would you not get sick of after 3 days? Do you have a variety of ways to 're-invent' a meal using leftover roast or leftover ham?
When I make ham, I love mac n cheese on the side, plus a green veggie with a not-so-heavy flavor (since the ham and macaroni are so salty).
Unfair. Why choose one over the other? Have both and love your holiday.
I love food so this isn't a question I could ever answer fairly.
rib roast sounds wonderful with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus =d
