My babysitter had a candle spill in her bathroom, resulting in the wax getting on the tile floors, the grout, and some on the wooden baseboard. She scraped off what she could, but there is still was left over. Any suggestions for her? Thank you.

Heat an iron to a cotton setting. Take an old cotton rag and put over the spill. Place - don't go back & forth - the iron on the spot. Pick it up and move it if you have to, but don't rub. The melted wax should now be on the old rag. Works for crayons, too!

Put a paper towel over the wax. Use a hair dryer to heat the wax. Blot or lightly press the paper towel to soak up the hot wax.

If the wax was on carpet, you could use an iron on the paper towel to heat the wax and then lightly blot or press the paper towel.

I've gotten candle wax out of carpet using this method so it should work for your sitter's bathroom. Use your iron and make sure all the water has been drained and that it is not set on 'steam' and it is hot before using.
You will need a clean cotton cloth/hankerchief. Cover the hankerchief/cloth over the wax spill and glide the iron over the cloth, pressing firmly over the wax spill. You may need to repeat several times but the wax will transfer onto the hankerchief. Good Luck!

Hi, have her try getting it warm with a blow dryer and then when it is soft again prying it up with a butter knife or if she has a plastic scrapper like the kind you get with a pizza stone from pampered chef.

Along the same lines as the others, but try a paper grocery bag and a hot iron. Use just one layer of the bag, you'll have to cut or tear it. Put the bag over the wax and move the iron slowly over the bag. The wax will melt onto the paper. This might work a bit better than paper towels, the bags are a bit more durable and won't burn as easily.

I agree with both of the suggestions... I've tried them both and they work great on hard surfaces. If she tries them and they don't work, you can also buy candle wax remover for under 10 dollars... check online.

The two best things I know of are ice which will freeze it and cause it to sweep up easily. The other is to cover the area with an absorbant cloth or several sheets of paper towel, cover that with waxed paper and use a hot iron on the area, the wax will come up into the cloth or paper towel.

An old towel and a hot iron. Place an old towel on the wax area to be removed and gently press with the hot iron. The iron will heat up the wax and the towel will absorb it. Repeat on all areas until finished. Should be fine after that.

Try paper towels and a iron. A really hot wash cloth might work too. You need to get it hot. I am wondering if goo gone might help too. Never tried it becasue the iron worked fine for me. Just keep useing a fresh aea of the paper towel to make sure not to get it on the iron.

All of the above suggestions are gr8. I will have to say though, that I am an independent distributor for Scent-Sations, Inc. We sell Gourmet candles. These candles when spilled clean up with soap and hot water. If your sister is a candle lover, this would be a gr8 option for her or anyone else in case a mishap like this would happen again. You can visit my website at www.burn2earn.scent-team.com to learn more about the candles.

Tell her to get a few paper towels, fold them on top of each other, get her clothes iron, and place paper towels on the wax. Then, put the iron on the paper towels for a few seconds. The iron will melt the wax onto the paper towels and VOILA! WAX IS GONE! I've had to do this on walls before from a basketball catastrophe! It works on carpets and clothing too

The best way to get candle wax off of anything it to use an old towel (that you do not mind getting ruined and an iron (the kind you use on your clothes).
Take the towel, place it over the wax on your tile, warm your iron to a low to medium temperature and place it over the towel. So it’s tile – wax- towel – warm iron.
The warmth of the iron should melt the wax and the towel will soak it up.
You may need to repeat and adjust the temp of the iron, but this method gets wax off of anything.

Good luck.

Hi S.,
I'm sorry to hear about your mishap but all you have to do is go to wal Mart and buy what is called Goo Gone. This stuff is good and I know that it works because I have used it for candle wax, gum, ink and other things. You will be shocked at the results.

Good luck,

Get a hand towel or piece of fabric you don't care about, lay it over the wax and turn an iron on high. iron over the towel, it should heat the wax and the fabric will pick up the melted wax.

I like the hair dryer/paper towel method for this situation.

Keep in mind that the best way to get wax out of most things is to freeze it. When possible, place the object in the freezer for a few hours or over night, and the wax should just drop out of it with a gentle tap. This is how I remove old wax from candle holders when it's time to change the candles.
